City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Item: Amend MMC 13.04.020 to grant greater discretion in the timing of sewer connect-on-sale Date: October 18, 2010 Prepared by: Jason Wiener Initiated by: Jason Wiener, Dave Strohmaier Action Required: Set a public hearing on amending MMC 13.04.020. Recommended Motion: I move the committee recommend the City Council set a public hearing on November 8, 2010, consider an ordinance amending MMC 13.04.020 titled “Connection to public sanitary sewer upon property transfer – Required” to grant staff greater discretion to delay mandatory sewer connection. Timeline: Referral to committee: October 16, 2010 Committee discussion: October 18, 2010 Background and Alternatives Explored: MMC 13.04.020 requires staff to delay mandatory connection to sewer on property transfer by six months if certain conditions are met. In the event a City project is planned, this delay may be insufficient to promote the most efficient sequence of construction events.
