The local signal boxes serve as “canvases,”enhancing our community and enriching our visual surroundings for years to come. The Selection Committee chose eight artists to participate in the 2010 project over Memorial Weekend. Artists could choose to paint the signal box or apply their design vinyl. They began working on their signal boxes Friday, May 28 and continued throughout the weekend. Fifteen of Missoula’s seventy-two signal boxes have been completed. The Public Art Committee continues to raise money to implement this project with the goal of completing two per year.
