City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Plat, Annexation, and Zoning Item: Title 20 Maintenance Amendments Date: June 25, 2010 Prepared by: Tom Zavitz Initiated by: Urban Initiatives, OPG Action Required: Set a Public Hearing to consider maintenance amendments to Title 20, Missoula City Zoning Ordinance. Recommended Motion: I move the City Council set a public hearing to consider an ordinance to amend Title 20, Missoula City Zoning Ordinance. Timeline: Referral to committee: June 25, 2010 Committee discussion: June 30, 2010 Council acts to set hearing: July 12, 2010 Public Hearing: August 2, 2010 Background and Alternatives Explored: It’s been approximately eight months since Title 20 took effect. Over that time, the Office of Planning and Grants has been monitoring questions regarding the new ordinance. It is our intent to provide regular maintenance of the regulations. With that in mind, we are presenting this list of omissions and corrections. Most of the items identified came to light from use of the ordinance by the Permits Division of OPG and citizens, architects and developers. The proposed corrections and revisions were distributed to city agencies and interested citizens for comment. We have considered comments received and responded with appropriate revisions to the list. (See Staff Report – Attachment C) The list of 50 maintenance amendments was reviewed by the Planning Board on June 1, 2010. The Planning Board made five suggested revisions to items on the list.
