The following positions are open: ● Two Professional Positions Candidates for a professional position on the Historic Preservation Committee should have professional expertise in the disciplines of history, planning, archeology, architecture, architectural history, historic archeology, or other historic preservation related disciplines such as cultural geography or cultural anthropology. Retired professionals are given consideration equal to that of practicing professionals. Residency within the City is not a prerequisite for membership as a professional member on the board. The Historic Preservation Commission is charged with establishing a local historic preservation program, integrating historic preservation into local, state and federal planning and decision-making processes and identifying, evaluating and protecting historic resources in Missoula. The Historic Preservation program is designed to promote the preservation of historic and prehistoric sites, structures, objects, buildings and historic districts by addressing historic preservation issues and historic districts at the local level and integrating them into local, state and federal planning and decision-making processes. The program includes the identification, evaluation and protection of historic resources in Missoula. The Commission advises the Missoula City Council, Missoula Consolidated Planning Board, and the Board of Adjustment. The board meets The term for this position begins January 1, 2010 and will end on December 31, 2012. Applicants for the board will interview with the City Council's Plat, Annexation & Zoning committee.
