City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Committee Item: Approve the Agreement for Engineering Services for SID 548 – 5th / 6th / Arthur Intersection Safety Improvements Date: December 16, 2009 Prepared by: Gregg Wood Initiated by: Kevin Slovarp Action Required: Approve the Engineering Services Agreement for SID 548 – 5th/ 6th/ Arthur Intersection Safety Improvements project. Recommended Motion: The Committee recommends the City Council authorize the Mayor to sign the Engineering Services Agreement with WGM Group in an amount not to exceed $261,071 for SID 548 – 5th / 6th/ Arthur Intersection Safety Improvements project. Timeline: Referral to committee: December 11, 2009 Committee discussion: December 16, 2009 Background and Alternatives Explored: On November 9, 2009 City Council adopted Resolution 7493 creating Special Improvement District (SID) 548 for the purpose of undertaking intersection and safety improvements in the University area at 5th/6th/Arthur and Maurice. This engineering services contract will provide design and construction administration for project implementation. Financial Implications: $1,250,000 Special Improvement District assessed to the University of Montana City – contribute in-kind labor for paving activities State – contribute labor and materials necessary for traffic signal installation.
