City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: A & F Item: Review the FY 2011-15 CIP projects in committee Date: April 14, 2010 Prepared by: Brentt Ramharter Initiated by: Brentt Ramharter Action Required: We will need to set aside extra time in A & F to start on April 21st and meet for 4 or 5 weeks in a row. Recommended Motion: None. Timeline: Referral to committee: April 14, 2010 Committee discussion: April 21,28; May 5,12,19 Deadline: Necessary to initiate capital budget process for FY 2011. Background and Alternatives Explored: Each year we start the budget process with a review of proposed capital projects. This year we propose to start the CIP review on April 21st and deliver the preliminary budget to council on either May 12 or May 19. This would allow us to start the operating budget review in the later part of May. The Administration will present an overview, discussion and explanation of the CIP on April 21st. Financial Implications: This is the time of the year to get started on our capital budget review in order to be in a position to adopt our final budget late in the summer.
