City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Administration and Finance Item: Memorandum of Understanding to Collective Bargaining Agreements between the City of Missoula and: Teamsters/Operating Engineers/Machinists – Streets, Vehicle Maint. &Traffic Services Wastewater Operating Engineers – Plant and Collection System techs Montana Public Employees Assoc. Wastewater Lab Techs Montana Public Employees Assoc – Parks Maintenance Technicians (full-time) Teamsters – Seasonal Parks Maintenance Techs Date: July 22, 2010 Prepared by: Gail Verlanic Initiated by: Human Resources Action Required: Authorize the Mayor to sign memorandums of understanding for collective bargaining agreements between the City of Missoula and: Montana Public Employees Association, Teamsters, Operating Engineers and Machinists. These cover 1 and/or 2 years of wage increases due to the wage freeze agreed on for Fiscal year 2011. Recommended Motion: I move the City Council authorize the Mayor to sign the extended agreements Timeline: Referral to committee: July 26, 2010 Committee discussion: July 28, 2010 or at the convenience of the committee Chair Background and Alternatives Explored: The City was able to negotiate a wage freeze between all of the collective bargaining units for FY11. Each of the attached outlines the particular agreements for each of the unions/associations. Financial Implications: No wage increases for union employees. Contracts were extended for either one or two years.
