City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Conservation Item: Change Order #2 Pineview Park Date: 8/11/09 Prepared by: Alan White Initiated by: Donna Gaukler Action Required: Approve and recommend to Council, Change Order #2 for Pineview Park for approval. Recommended Motion: I move the City Council approve and authorize the Mayor to sign the Resolution for Change Order #2 Pineview Park in the amount of $3,235.65 increasing the contract amount to $135,314.24. Timeline: Referral to committee: 8/13/09 Committee discussion: 8/19/09 Background and Alternatives Explored: Staff has continued to look for design and contract alternatives to save cost and add value to the project. The first portion of the change order is the electrical value engineering payment to the contractor. This is the payment of the shared savings made available by the redesign of all the electrical components represented in change order one. The second portion of the change order addresses small increases or decreases, as well as changes to contract items necessary to add value and reduce cost where possible. These adjustments provide for proper close out of the financial aspects of the contract. Financial Implications: Value engineering and frugal cost management has saved $15,000 beyond all cost increases which have been, or are being, requested for approval. Therefore, these contract modifications are within the original line-item budget for the project. This does not impact the project contingency which remains intact.
