City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Conservation Item: Open Space Project Fieldtrip – Deschamps Ranch NW of WYE Date: June 24, 2010 Prepared by: Jackie Corday Initiated by: Parks Department Action Required: None - fieldtrip Recommended Motion: No motion needed. Timeline: Referral to committee: June 24, 2010 Committee fieldtrip: July 7, 2010 Background and Alternatives Explored: The Rocky Mt Elk Foundation has applied to the City and the County for Open Space Bond funding to purchase a conservation easement on the Charlie Deschamps 1036 acre ranch located NW of the WYE above O’Keefe Creek Estates. The land is located entirely within the Open Space Plan boundaries, but it is about ½ in the Missoula Planning Region and ½ in the Frenchtown Planning Region. Details: WHEN: July 7th 10:00-12:00ish (we might not get back till 12:30) HOW: Carpool via Parks van & one other vehicle if needed (depending on number going) WHERE: I’ll pick you all up in the Parks van directly across Pine St from Council Chambers in the Garlington parking lot RSVP: I need to know who plans to attend in order to have the right size van – please email me as soon as you know. RAIN: If there is just a drizzle, we’ll go, but if it’s really soggy, the ranch road will be too muddy.
