City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Item: Complete Streets Program Date: July 29, 2009 Prepared by: Jason Wiener Initiated by: Jason Wiener Action Required: Approve Complete Streets resolution Recommended Motion: I move that the City Council approve and adopt Resolution No. XXX, known as the Complete Streets Resolution. Timeline: Referral to committee: August 19, 2009 Committee discussion: Following Staff Presentation Background and Alternatives Explored: This item is back on the Public Works Committee agenda, after having received preliminary discussion and public comment in Fall, 2008. Prior to that, both Community Forum and the Bicycle-Pedestrian Board passed a Complete Streets resolution, asking the City Council to adopt a Complete Streets policy for the City. In May, 2009, City Public Works drafted a formal resolution for adoption by the City Council after meeting with several groups which expressed an interest. These included the Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Board, the Community Forum, the Bike Walk Alliance for Missoula, MAST, MIST, and the Franklin to the Fort Neighborhood Council. Key concerns raised with the Fall 2008 version have been addressed. Financial Implications: To be determined.
