Spring is in the air! I hope that you have all recovered from the “wind” of February 6th. I would like to take this opportunity to thank ALL of the Town staff for the many ways they assisted with the problems the day of the storm and the days that fol- lowed. Their efficiency and most of all their professionalism was so appreciated. I know we like to say that Minden is special and this was just further proof of our staff going the extra mile. We have several upcoming events for you to mark on your calendars: Downtown Minden Farmer’s Market is on Tuesday evenings starting May 19th. The 30th Annual Minden Spring Mar- ketplace and Car Show on June 6th & 7th. The Family Support Council’s “Chillin & Grillin” BBQ Event June 6th. Carson Valley Days Breakfast June 13th. And before you know it, our 4th of July Celebration will be here! I hope you have all had the opportunity to see our beautiful new Gateway Center Park at the corner of Hwy’s 88 and 395. We look forward to spring when we can finish planting and watch everything grow in. As always, we want to hear what you have to say. Please join us the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30p.m. in the CVIC Hall for our Town Board Meet- ings. Come be a part of the process! ~Roxanne Stangle Chairmans Corner Town of Minden 1 6 0 4 E S M E R A L D A A V E , S T E 1 0 1 , M I N D E N , N V 8 9 4 2 3 O F F I C E ( 7 7 5 ) 7 8 2 - 5 9 7 6 F A X ( 7 7 5 ) 7 8 2 - 5 2 8 7 W W W . Mr. Smith was the Supervisor responsible for the care and mainte- nance of the Town parks and buildings. James leaves behind some difficult shoes to fill. Several residents have expressed their appreciation of the work completed by James’ crew over the years. He will be missed as he rides off into the sunset onto his next adventure, which I am told will in- volve his My sincere thanks to James for his love of and dedication to the Town. James truly was one of Minden’s brightest. ~Jenifer Greetings to everyone from the Town Administrative Offices. I can not believe it’s already time to share the Town’s plans with you for the spring and early summer. It is crazy how quickly time flies when you are working on exciting projects. The improvements in the right-of-way portion of the Gateway Center are complete with the exception of some landscape elements which will be planted as weather permits. The Board will also discuss the possibility of relocating the utility boxes on the island at the intersection of US High- way 395 and State Route 88 that obscure the view of the beautiful monument there. Used a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways and walkways: 5,000 gallons per year. Installed low-flow shower-heads: 5,000 gallons per year. Washed their cars with a hose equipped with an on/off nozzle: 6,000 gallons per year. Replaced old toilets with high-efficiency models: 20,000 gallons per year. Used a smart irrigation system that watered during the coolest parts of the day and did not water when it rains: 50,000 gallons per year. Trash Talk: It’s Ɵme again for Spring Cleaning! Don’t forget about the Town of Minden’s free residenƟal dumpster service when it comes Ɵme to clean out your house, gar- age, or yard. As a resident of Minden, you are enƟtled to free dumpster use up to two Ɵmes per year. Just be sure to call early— the dumpsters are distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis and we get quite the list this Ɵme of year. In other trash news, there has been a significant increase in the amount of calls requesƟng trash pick-up aŌer the crew has passed the locaƟon for which the request is made. While we do try our best to be accommodaƟng, it is imperaƟve that your cans be out by 6:00 a.m. on your desig- nated trash day, with no obstrucƟons— cars, basketball hoops, etc.— that would prohibit the safe pick-up of your can(s). Looking for a FEW GOOD MEN.. AND WOMEN. As the events season gets closer, the Town is looking for enthusiastic volunteers for assist- ing with Town Events. There are doggie waste disposal staƟons in various places including County Road , Jake’s Wetlands, LaCosta Park and in Minden and Westwood Parks. Please be considerate and use them. Please Do Not Touch Your Meter Pit! If you need to have the water turned off to make a repair, please call the Town Office so that we may send out a qualified water operator between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to temporarily disconnect your water service while you perform the maintenance.
