Let’s hope that it exits March like a lamb. A huge shout out goes to all of the Town of Minden employees who were working practically around the clock to remove the unprecedented amounts of snow from the roadways. Everyone’s patience and understanding is appreciated as the snow removal was done according to the Town of Minden Snow Removal Policy adopted in December 2013. Now that we can see lawns, flower beds, and gardens again, many of us have a lot of post-storm clean up ahead of us. Thankfully the yard waste pick up has resumed. You can put out your brown cans on each Thursday. Please remember that acceptable yard waste includes lawn clip- pings, weeds, leaves and garden waste. With warmer weather just around the cor- ner, (and many of us having “cabin fe- ver”), please take time to visit some of the Town of Minden’s outdoor opportunities: the Minden Park, Westwood Park, Jake’s Wetland and the Seeman’s Pond pro- ject. Town staff is working hard to pre- pare all of these wonderful spots for your enjoyment. ‐Steve Thaler “Spring is the time of plans and projects.” - Leo Tolstoy REMINDER! With the new fixed base meter program the Town is beƩer able to idenƟfy leaks. If the Town idenƟfies one at your prop- erty we will noƟce you with a door knocker or if the leak is substanƟal enough, we will call you immediately. If you have a water leak, you first need to determine whether it is outside or inside your home. Most houses have two shut off valves, generally located near the foundaƟon of the house, one for the main water to the home, the other to the irrigaƟon. Leaks on the irrigaƟon lines can usually be isolated by shuƫng off the valve that feeds the irrigaƟon system, and can be fixed at a later date. This valve should be turned off each year before winter to avoid leaks caused by freezing pipes. If the leak is inside the house, make sure the line is shut off at the valve before you contact a plumber. Many Ɵmes a leak can just be a leaky toilet. Put a liƩle food color- ing in the tank and if the bowl changes colors without you flushing it, your hardware probably needs to be changed. Leaks coming from the Town’s water meter boxes need to be reported to the Town of Minden. Please do not aƩempt to shut off the valves from the Town’s water meter boxes. If you are not sure where your own home’s water valve is located, you can contact the Town for assistance. It is sƟll winter, please remove the snow to the best of your ability and make sure your cans are placed far enough out for our trash trucks to reach. Please have your cans out on trash & yard waste days by 6:00am. Please allow 3 feet between cans. Do NOT over flow your trash cans. Your trash will not be dumped if it is too full. Extra Trash Day is every 3rd pickup of the month. Trash needs to be bagged and/or bundled down to 4x6 foot. GREEN WASTE HAS RESUMED and will be picked up every Thursday. If you’d like a green waste can, call the office. Save the date for Minden’s 4th of July CelebraƟon! Join us at Minden Park on July 4th from 10:00am to 2:00pm for our Annual 4th of July CelebraƟon. The Town will be very busy this Spring and Summer. Some of the projects slated are, the rest of the Westwood Park Improvements, the pavilion installation at Jake’s Wetlands, crack filling, and starting preliminary work on the 10th Street sidewalk and landscape. We are FINALLY getting to the trash audit and will be going by neighborhood. We will drop off instructions to each home in a door knocker. Thank you for your help!
