Wow, summer sure passes quickly in the Car- son Valley. Thank you all for coming to see the concert series which was quite the success. Thank you for supporting such great events and for treating our beautiful park so respectfully. Minden Park also hosted a wonderful 4th of July Celebration where we were able to barbe- que for hundreds of people courtesy of the Car- son Valley Inn. We are excited to have all the families come down each year and enjoy this with us and we hope to make it bigger and bet- ter year after year. As you can see from our list of events, we are thrilled to be a part of the kickoff for the Christ- mas Season with the Friday, December 5th Ga- zebo Lighting followed up by the Chamber of Commerce’s Saturday night Parade of Lights. We hope you can join us! After much discussion and planning we are ex- cited for you all to see the landscape improve- ments that are about to go in at the intersection of Hwy 395 and 88. We are looking to turn a sterile area into an inviting entrance to our Town. I can’t wait to see how that turns out. We would like to welcome Ted Thran to the office as the new Town Accountant. He is the former Douglas County Clerk Treasurer and we are so thankful to have him with us. ~Matt Bernard FALL 2014 Town of Minden 1604 Esmeralda Ave, Ste 101, Minden, NV 89423 Phone (775) 782-5976 Fax (775) 782-5287 2014 Minden Town Board MaƩ Bernard, Chairman [EMAIL REDACTED] Roxanne Stangle, Vice Chairman [EMAIL REDACTED] Charlie Condron, Member [EMAIL REDACTED] John Stephans, Member [EMAIL REDACTED] Steve Thaler, Member [EMAIL REDACTED] The Chairman’s Chatter Friday, December 5th Festivities begin in Downtown Historic Minden at 5:00 p.m. Santa comes to light the Gazebo at 6:00 p.m. Live Music, Fire-pits, Complimentary Cookies, Smores and Hot Cider. Well, Fall is quickly approaching and will be here before you know it! Here are some updates on some of our comings and goings. Construction will be wrapping up soon over at the Martin Slough Trailhead at Jake’s Wetland, and we encourage all our residents to take a stroll to see how beautiful it looks. For the residents who don’t live quite as close, it will provide you with some much needed parking so you too can enjoy one of our Town treasures. The County was approved grant funds for the Martin Slough Trail which in the future will connect Jake’s with Lampe Park. Many of you know that the Town was planning on completing the County Road Improvement Project which would create streetscape from 8th to 10th Streets. We are pleased to announce that the Town has been awarded a significant grant from NDOT to assist us with that project. Stay tuned for more updates on the timing of this project. The COD Casino recently opened it’s doors in Downtown Minden. Come down and see the beautiful restoration job they have done to such a historic building. The Town recently held the first meeting re- garding a Main Street Minden Program. The Town is looking at the possibility of a similar program to what Gardnerville has in Main Street Gardnerville. The Town is looking for people who are interested in participating on the steering committee. This group will help form what Minden Main Street looks like and does. If you are interested or have ques- tions please contact Jenifer Davidson 782-5976 or Roxanne Stangle 781-1736. ~ Town Admin Staff Upcoming Events 9/26-9/28 CVCT “The Butler Did It” - CVIC 9/30 Last Farmers Market—Esmeralda Ave 10/3-10/5 CVCT “The Butler Did It” - CVIC 10/4 Scarecrow Festival—Minden Park 10-14 CV Chamber Town Hall Meeting—CVIC 10/24 CVAC Concert “California Honeydrops” CVIC 10/31 DCSO Safety Street—CVIC 11/4 Elections—CVIC 11/7-11/9 CVAA Art Show—CVIC 11/14-11/16 Library Book Sale—CVIC 11/22 Kiwanis Turkey Bingo—CVIC 12/5 Town of Minden’s Holiday Weekend starts with the Gazebo Lighting—Minden Park 12/5 Elks Spaghetti Feed—CVIC 12/6 Chamber of Commerce 19th Annual Parade of Lights ends at Minden Park. 12/12 Carson Valley Food Closet Food Drive– Carson Valley Inn 12/13 CV POPS Concert—CVIC 12/14 CVCT Young Thespians—CVIC 12/20 United Blood Services—CVIC Fall Trash Information There will be NO trash pickup on 11/27-11/28 for Thanksgiving and Family Day.
