Find us on Social Media: As the crisp winter air settles over our beloved town and we prepare to welcome the new year of 2024, I am filled with immense pride and a sense of profound responsibility as I begin my term as Chairman of the Minden Town Board. First and foremost, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the entire Town Staff for their tireless efforts in transforming Minden into a festive Christmas wonderland. The enchanting decorations, the joyous lighting ceremony at the Gazebo, and the captivating Parade of Lights brought warmth and cheer to our community, reminding us all of the magic of the season. Transparency and accessibility are of paramount importance to the Town Board. Our meetings, held on the first Wednesday of every month (with the January meeting rescheduled to the 10th due to the holidays), are open to all residents. We actively encourage your participation and welcome your input and feedback. Your voices are invaluable in shaping the future of Minden. Whether it's proposing new ideas, raising concerns, or simply sharing your thoughts, we are committed to listening attentively and working together to find solutions that benefit all residents. As we embark on a new year, I am filled with optimism for the future of our vibrant town. We have so much to be thankful for, our dedicated Town staff, our passionate residents, and the unique charm that makes Minden such a special place to live, work, and raise a family. There were two options proposed and the Board elected to move forward with the first option which is a 25% increase to the trash rate, changes to the cost of the second can, and establishing a cost for a residential 2-yard dumpster, effective July 1, 2023. This has not yet gone into effect and still has to go back to the Town Board for a second reading. Originally planned for the January 3 rd meeting, that meeting has been pushed back to January 10, 2024 for anyone interested in attending. For more information on the proposed rates you can check out our website at: Also, currently in the works are the proposed changes to the Trash ordinance. The major proposed changes include limiting the free dumpster to once a year instead of twice, limiting the number of yard waste cans to 2 unless the lot size is half an acre or larger, limits on extra trash, establishing a limit on the time allowed for the residential 2-yard dumpster, and that all residential dumpsters will only be available to accounts that are paid up to date. These proposed changes have gone to the Minden Town Board three times and have been heard once at the Board of County Commissioners once. The second reading by the Board of County Commissioners for the proposed changes will be on January 4, 2024.
