Town of Minden Summer 2017 Chairman’s Corner Hello Everyone! We had another great Carson Valley Days Breakfast. Staff and Board Members really enjoyed seeing and serving Town residents and guests! We would especial- ly like to thank Model Dairy and Starbucks Minden for their generous support. If you did- n’t make it this year, please put it on the calendar for next year as it’s a great way to start the day and watch the parade! Our next big event is the annual 4th of July celebration. What a special event this is for us! We begin at 10am with a presentation of Colors by the Douglas County Law Enforcement Explorers which is led by bagpiper Mariah Connell. Following the presentation of Colors, will be the singing of the National Anthem by Monique Haviland. Then at 10:30, the fun begins! Children of this community are invited to bring their bikes for the parade and receive a goodie bag. This really accentuates the hometown feel for the 4th of July. The Carson Valley Inn is again generously providing complimentary BBQ Hamburgers and Hot Dogs which will be prepared by Board Members and Town Staff. Apple pie tops things off and Model Dairy is helping out with free popsicles. Music and Entertainment with bounce houses and water games - children should dress accordingly! We here at the Town love your dogs, however, for July 4th we ask you to please keep them at home for the event. We hope to see you all there! ~Bill Souligny 1604 ESMERALDA AVE, STE 101, MINDEN, NV 89423 PHONE (775) 782-5976—[EMAIL REDACTED] 2017 TOWN BOARD Bill Souligny, Chairman [EMAIL REDACTED] Matt Bernard. I hope this newsleƩer finds each of you enjoying the glorious weather and the many acƟviƟes in and around Minden. As some of you are aware, the Town offices were damaged this spring due to a severe weather event. At this Ɵme, it is my pleasure to announce repairs have been made and we have returned to our “home” in downtown Minden. As al‐ ways, you are invited to stop by the office for a chat and a cup of coffee. We welcome your feedback, quesƟons and concerns. Finally, it is with mixed emoƟons that I must take this opportunity to advise resi‐ dents of the reƟrement of AdministraƟve Services Man‐ ager, Trish Koepnick aŌer 27 years of faithful service. SomeƟmes employees grow and develop right along with an organizaƟon, forming a special bond; such is the case with Trish. She is the only employee in the history of the Town to have worked in both public works and admin‐ istraƟon and performed almost every essenƟal funcƟon for this organizaƟon in both departments. As word spread in June about her reƟrement, the evidence of Trish’s impact on this community appeared daily in the form of a steady trickle of well‐wishers making their way into the office to express their graƟtude for her years of ser‐ vice and dedicaƟon. Although her reƟrement is well deserved, each well‐wisher does not hesitate to point out Minden will not be the same without her. I wholeheartedly agree. Minden was very fortunate to have Trish as part of our team; she will be greatly missed. ~Jenifer Davidson Jenifer’s Journal
