Chairman’s Corner Hello Everyone! I hope you are having a nice summer. Boy, it sure is getting hot out there. We had a great Carson Valley Days Breakfast. The staff and Board re- ally enjoyed serving all the people of the Town of Minden. We tipped the scale at around 500 people! Big thanks to Model Dairy for their generous support. If you didn’t make it this year, please put it on the calendar for next year. The next big event coming up is the 4th of July Celebration. What a special event for us! It is great to see the children of this community decorate their bikes and display them in the Children’s Bike Parade. It really brings home the hometown feel for the 4th of July. New this year is a fantastic partnership with Mike Pegram and the Carson Valley Inn who is providing complimentary BBQ Hamburgers and Hot Dogs. Apple Pie is making a comeback this year and Model Dairy is helping out with free popsicles. Bill McClain is providing music and entertainment and there will be bounce houses and water games. We hope to see you all there! Have a great summer and will see you around town. ~Matt SuMMER 2014 2014 Minden Town Board Matt Bernard, Chairman [EMAIL REDACTED] Roxanne Stangle, Vice Chairman [EMAIL REDACTED] Charlie Condron, Member [EMAIL REDACTED] John Stephans, Member [EMAIL REDACTED] Steve Thaler, Member [EMAIL REDACTED] Town Administrative Staff: Jenifer Davidson, Town Manager Trish Koepnick, Office Manager Rachel Hamer, Senior Secretary Sharon Lueck, Office Assistant Town Public Works Staff: Greg Hill, Superintendent Carol Mikulski, Office Assistant Andy Concannon, Maintenance Supervisor James Smith, Maintenance Supervisor Dan Kistler, Maintenance Specialist III B.J. Summer has arrived and Town Staff are once again working diligently to keep the Town parks beauti‐ ful for the enjoyment of all. You will notice several flats of colorful flow‐ ers were lovingly planted around Town just in time for Carson Valley Days. I hope each of you took the opportunity to join the Minden Board for Breakfast in the park as part of the Carson Valley Days celebration. Next up is lunch in the park for the 4th of July. Special thanks to our event partners, Model Dairy, for providing the delicious and nutritious breakfast fixings and the Carson Valley Inn for their generous contribu‐ tions to the Minden 4th of July barbeque! I am pleased to report both the Gateway Center right‐of‐way improve‐ ments, and the trailhead at Jake’s Wetlands projects will break ground in the next few months and should be completed this fall. Also, I have been informed by the Nevada Department of Transportation that the County Road Improvements project submitted by Staff was ranked in the top five projects for funding through the Transportation Alterna‐ tives Program. This phase of the project would include 8th through 10th Street. Projects are awarded funds based on rank and the overall fund‐ ing available. The total estimated cost of the project is approximately $390,000 with a request for $300,000 in grant funds. Once the Town is notified if it will receive the funding, the Board will make the decision as to when to proceed with the project. The project was approved by the Board as part of the Fiscal Year 2014/2015 capital projects list. As always, we appreciate your comments and are grateful for the op‐ portunity to serve you. Please do not hesitate to contact the Town Of‐ fice with your questions and concerns. Have a happy and safe summer! As a courtesy to all the residents who enjoy walking our beautiful town, please be aware of any bushes or land‐ scaping that your property might have that overgrows onto the sidewalk. Trimming back can help to prevent tripping and keeps our Town looking great. Web Payments are still on the way…. Stay Tuned!
