Answered: 82 Skipped: 21 ---PAGE BREAK--- Respond ent ID Would you support pickleball courts if conditions or limitations were put in place? If maybe, please explain your conditions or limitations. Open-Ended Response 1.15E+11 For decades the Westwood Park has been on urban green belt and a nice-size neighborhood park with a small child playground. The open space allowed for mixed- use and family outings. Over the past few years there seems to have been a push to develope the open green space into a recreation field prioritizing special groups. First a covered area for group rather than family gatherings then a water park aimed a young families and now a pickleball court for those who play. A final thought. The benefits of a pickleball court will be enjoyed by a few intermittently during daylight hours, on fair weather days. The downsides will be present 24/7 everyday year-round by all who currently enjoy the park and neighborhood. 1.15E+11 no, since they just added a childrens water park, it is very crowded with traffic. & people crowding the area. People and families are coming to the play area from out of town. It is already too crowded for such a small park. A closed-in dog park is needed more. Another park area is better that does not have additions. 1.15E+11 I would support whatever the town see's fit 1.15E+11 Maybe no cost increase to taxes & noise mitigation 1.15E+11 I do not see benefits for the neighborhood. the only benefits would be for those outside the neighborhood. There would be additional traffic, noise, & strangers added to a quiet neighborhood. 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 yes, anger management within the geriatric traffic 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 It's bad enough that all summer long our nice quiet park has turned into a zoo! Cars parked all the way around, trash left either piled high every day when I take my walk I have to pick up trash that was left by the partiers the day before. Please for the love of god, do not build a pickleball court here. 1.15E+11 Keep as much open grass as possible. Further deuteration of Mahogany Dr. from Ironwood N to Tamarack Dr. starting to look like a street in TRE. Yes, kids would use it and fun family sports 1.15E+11 We lived in Florida in retirement community pickleball courts were nearby, you could hear the "click" of someone hitting the ball, especially annoying if sitting outside. Those in homes close would be greatly annoyed, I'm not sure we could hear it here but possibly because in Fl we could hear it. I can't describe how far away it was. Depending on use of the park, cars already line up on one side. If cars had to line up on 2 sides & residents had to squeeze through, not good. The park isn't big enough for pickleball courts. It's already crowded w/leagues, play ground equipment. Pickleball courts will take up too much room so other sports will not be able to use the park. 1.15E+11 The residents living right across from the proposed area need the most consideration! 1.15E+11 Location is ok with me. Just park rules and parking 1.15E+11 It's our understanding that there are plans for tennis courts & pickleball facilities on the DHS campus and we feel that that would be a more appropriate location, while still providing the above benefits to our neighborhood. In our view, a better use of resources would be to apply allocated funds to the prosed site at DHS 1.15E+11 Yes, wouldn't matter what conditions or limitations were, I would use the courts 1.15E+11 Neither points are of serious detriment but for a relatively small park it seems to be a bit over crowded as it is. And didn't they just add pickleball courts to the community center. Seems quite unnecessary. No I cannot see under any circumstances where this can be achieved. Maybe but the hotel demo it and turn it into a multi story parking garage if this is ever remotely being pursued. I strongly suggest obtaining a much larger piece of property to support recreational areas that are needed in Minden. A couple of acres just isn't enough ---PAGE BREAK--- 1.15E+11 no this park is too crowded now and no one cleans up the mess- it is all over next door. The poor old people that live in these neighborhoods are the ones who constantly have to clean up trash (I see a few ladies regularly out there doing it). They park & black driveways which is also a problem. It's not fair to expect the locals to clean up your parks! I'd prefer that money get spent on our horrible water here. Try drinking it- you just might die it's pretty crappy. 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 Just concerned for traffic & parking when existing water play park are active on nice days. Park is already full of cars around 1.15E+11 Yes, but have we considered what is lacking in the county? Outdoor basketball court or we would really love an outdoor batting/pitching cage/nets. I have think we have enough pickleball at the community center 1.15E+11 854 longleaf 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 Maybe 1.15E+11 Do something with the scary motel people, sleeping in their cars.. SO TRASHY. Please regulate peoples trashy yards in Westwood (white roof on Ironwood). Homeowners that run businesses with 6-8 extra cars on the street (corner of Maplewood & Oakwood). Street lights - upgrade to LED so people can see &feel safe at night. Summer days at Westwood park so many people not from our community. 1.15E+11 No. I want the park to keep the grass there. Alot of sports are done there for the children to play. We have a lot of people there for the water park. Enough here already, please do not add more 1.15E+11 The park is to small to accommodate pickleball courts that would take up valuable space utilized by kids athletic practice (soccer, flag football, etc) Additional pickleball courts are loud prompting many communities banning them. Additionally, there are ample courts in the valley-Douglas Community center, Lampe park, Douglas High tennis courts to name a few. Also parking should be a consideration- currently on summer weekends the water park users spill over into the side streets to park 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 The park is too small, propese locations is bad. Limits ability for Douglas students & children who use the park for soccer & ball, lacrosse practice. Many many, many adults & children currently use the park for these activities. Pickleball courts will remove that opportunity for so many & will limit the space you take up to only a very small number at any given time. Perhaps? Serious impact directly to my property & property value based on the proposed to laction. This park is small. Don't take away the space so many use now for sports, summertime activities to include spring, fall picnics, bday parties. If you have to have this- why does it have to be right in front of my house? It could easily be placed at the corner across the street from the vacant area just west of the sewer plant & splash pad. Please keep it away from the homes and closer to the east side of the park. We're still unclear how a big area used for this purpose and only a few being able to use it at any given time is of benefit to the large numbers of folks who currently use this space. 1.15E+11 No! will soon stop dogs 1.15E+11 No. we are tired of the trash from Gville driving through. Honestly the splashpad was a waste of our taxes and I say that as a parent of four kids in Westwood. How about lower our taxes. We already have enough ponpous mid class driving around drunk on golfcarts in this neighborhood, a pickleball court will just beckon more. Also, in the ten years we've lived here, never have we ever had items stolen from the front of our home until the moment the splashpad opened. Thanks for that 1.15E+11 Yes, no lighting. Daytime hours only 1.15E+11 Yes 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 No ---PAGE BREAK--- 1.15E+11 Parking would be my biggest concern. There are many pickleball courts at the senior center. Parking with the splash pad now people parking in front of adjacent homes and also parking on side streets 1.15E+11 They are not needed. They are available elsewhere. The park cannot sustain more usage 1.15E+11 We support the pickleball courts but we would like to see something to prevent more people from speeding down 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 Yes, we need to respect our neighbors so restrictions are okay to help mitigate issues 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 No 1.15E+11 Daytime use - or do sundown in summer - also not to interfere with play ground & water park 1.15E+11 yes 1.15E+11 Probably 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 Yes 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 the park is too crowded already with splash pad parking, where do you think all the extra cars will park? Then you have no room for splash pad visitors. I say NO! and it will take away the nature of the park 1.15E+11 yes 1.15E+11 No, I think pickleball courts would ruin the pleasure and present use of a beautiful park for families and children 1.15E+11 I don't support Pickleball courts period! 1.15E+11 NO! 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 No we are opposed to this pickleball is a dying fad w/ little to no interest by others in our community. However, I'm more concerned with all the people who treat the park as a dog park. There is an obscene amount of dog poop at that park 1.15E+11 absolutely strongly opposed 1.15E+11 As a side note I would rather have my street repaved 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 I have wanted to play pickleball and would likely try it. Conditions as aboce 1.15E+11 No, we would prefer two simple park benches under the trees in the areas of proposed pickelball courts. A place for peace and quiet away from the kids area in the shade. Also, please return the Westwood Park sign and re-landscape the surrounding area where the tree was removed 1.15E+11 love the open park 1.15E+11 No, not is westwood Park 1.15E+11 I support the courts! 1.15E+11 No- it would be great if Town of Minden had one park you don't completely develop! You either thoroughly develop or you sell your land for housing. KEEP IT THE WAY IT IS! 1.15E+11 ---PAGE BREAK--- 1.15E+11 no 1.15E+11 yes, posted hours, time limits, good lighting for safety if night use 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 No lighting- daytime play only-how goes No more time 4 courts-lampe park corts 1.15E+11 No. the splash pad was a good addition for kids but due to disrespectful teens and others, things were broken before it even opened. This is too small of a community to bring this in. We want to keep it small. Parking is already a concern when the splash pad is open. A better location would be the community center in Gville or a new park soley for that with maintenance there is the concern of property taxes going up 1.15E+11 no opinion 1.15E+11 land allocated is not big enough for this. Find another place to build that bigger 1.15E+11 No need for limitations 1.15E+11 yes 1.15E+11 no, because the park is in the process of being ruined by people & dogs (unleased) more people= more ruination 1.15E+11 yes 1.15E+11 yes 1.15E+11 need sufficient fencing to ensure pickleball stays on the court, not rolling into traffic. Please do not cut down any existing trees! 1.15E+11 yes, I would have preferred the high school location and think maybe you should hold out for it. Lights, should be turned off by 8pm 1.15E+11 There are lots of other properties around Minden/Gardnerville much more conducive to pickleball courts- parking would be impacted a pretty small area in a residential area 1.15E+11 yes 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 yes, it's a big park and it's good exercise. It less maintenance than the grass it's a good thing 1.15E+11 No 1.15E+11 I have none 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 I do not support the pickleball courts, Our park is for families and should not be bringing in more people to take it over 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 1.15E+11 I fully support it, pickle ball courts would be great! 1.15E+11 No 1.15E+11 Yes - how many courts? 1.15E+11 Yes, if folks abide by the rules and respect homeowners. 1.15E+11 Yes 1.15E+11 Limiting hours 1.15E+11 Yes, would just be happy to have some new courts nearby. ---PAGE BREAK--- 1.15E+11 Yes, I love it. I would ask that only reasonable rules, that can actually be enforced be considered. I am in full support of respecting the right of quiet enjoyment of the nearby neighbors. Too many rules, or ones that cannot be enforced, are problematic and should be avoided. 1.15E+11 Pickle Ball courts would be amazing, I absolutely support the idea. It is an amenity that it community would love!
