Don’t forget to winterize your pipes. The feeling of Fall is in the air as we wind down from a very busy summer. The Carson Valley Days breakfast was a huge success and was possibly one of the highest attended breakfasts to date. The Town of Minden’s 4th of July celebration drew a huge crowd, both young and old, and true patriotism was experienced by all. In August, the Minden Park was surrounded by vintage cars, music, food and fun as Hot August Nights was in full swing. In and around town, tables were installed at the Seeman Pond area and at the newly constructed pavilion at the Westwood Park. The Minden Park, Seeman Pond area, and the Westwood Park now all provide the perfect venue for a picnic lunch on one of our beautiful autumn days. Looking ahead, plans for a splash pad at the Westwood Park and construction of a sidewalk along 10th Street connecting County Road to Hwy 395 are on tap for next year. With autumn comes bear season so please remain “Bear Aware”. Bear resistant garbage cans are available (at a cost). If you are interested, please contact the Town office for information. You can say what you love, what we can improve, and help us plan for what you want Minden to look like in the future! ---PAGE BREAK--- FOOD DRIVE The Town of Minden is participating in the Carson Valley Community Food Closet’s Food Drive. If you want to participate please have your bagged donation of canned and non-perishable food on top of your trash cans during the week of December 8th, or you can drop it off in our Admin office. TRASH UPDATE BEAR CANS WILL BE AVAILABLE SOON! CALL THE OFFICE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE ONE. Yard Waste will not be picked up during the week of Thanksgiving,. If your trash day is 11/23 (Thanksgiving week) please have your trash can out by 6am on 11/22 we will have three residential trash trucks out on 11/22 to collect Wednesday and Thursdays Trash. Yard Waste service will STOP in January and will RESUME in April. TO HELP IMPROVE OUR TRASH SERVICES, WE HAVE UPGRADED AND INSTALLED CAMERAS ON OUR TRASH TRUCKS. THE MINDEN PARK SPLASH PAD WILL BE TURNED OFF DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER THRU APRIL. NOTICES EFFECTING THE TRASH ORDINANCE WITH THE PROPOSED CHANGES ARE AVAILABLE.
