General Election Tue., November 7, 2017 How to Find Your Lost Critter MILLCREEK. Millcreek contracts with Salt Lake County to provide animal services to our city. A large part of the services provided is the pet lost and found program. If you've lost your pet, check the interactive lost pets search page of the Animal Services' website. "Pet" includes not only cats and dogs, but guinea pigs, rabbits, goats, sheep, and much more. The facility even sheltered a horse this summer. We are fortunate to be served by the largest no- kill shelter facility in the State of Utah, right here in Millcreek. That means that when an animal comes to the shelter, it is returned home, placed with a family through adoption or fostering, or transferred to a qualified animal rescue organization. You can visit the shelter at 511 West 3900 South, just west of the freeway on the south side of the street. Many lost and found pets are listed by residents in the Nextdoor app, a local social medial network to which many of us belong. (If you're not already a member, you can sign up at ) Salt Lake County Animal Services has these additional tips for locating your missing rascal: DON'T EVER ASSUME that your pet was stolen or will come back on its own. LOOK for your pet during the day AND at night. ASK to check the ISOLATION and QUARANTINE kennels when visiting shelters. Also ask about any animal that may have been picked up deceased. POST lost pet cards or flyers on lost and found boards at local shelters, veterinary clinics, and other public bulletin boards when available. Post to Utah Lost and Found Pets on Facebook. CALL nearby veterinary offices to see if your pet was brought in as an injured stray. PLACE lost pet ads in local papers and classified sections of websites under the lost & found columns, such as KSL and/or Craigslist. CHECK all the shelters in the area. Your pet could be at any of them. DON'T GIVE UP! Pets often don't arrive in a shelter for weeks and sometimes even months after first becoming lost. SKYLINE FIREWORKS CELEBRATION MILCREEK. Last Friday, Skyline High's football fans celebrated each goal against Olympus High with a booming firework. The Skyline Eagles' win for The Rock trophy was followed by a large display of fireworks at about 10 PM. Here are answers to questions raised by a number of Millcreek residents: The money for the fireworks show was fund-raised and/or donated by fans. Neither the school nor Granite School District contributed any Subscribe Past Issues Translate ---PAGE BREAK--- 11/1/2018 How to find a lost critter in Millcreek 4/11 funding. A licensed vendor conducted the show. Skyline's administration believed that the city had given permission for the show, a belief that they later learned was not the case. The incident has exposed a flaw in our ordinances that we intend to address. At the very least, the UPD should be informed of such events so it can adequately respond to inquiries about the noise. We'll keep you updated. PLEASE COME TO ONE OR MORE OF OUR FOUR OPEN HOUSES TO TELL US YOUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE OF MILLCREEK. The fall colors have been unbelievably beautiful this year. They won't last too much longer, and leaves are now competing for space on your front lawn and in your garden. Uncollected leaves can cause big problems if they end up in our storm drains. Plugged storm drains cause pooling and flooding in our streets and sometimes even damage residents' properties. Clogged storm drains must be cleaned out, and all of that costs money. It is just plain cheaper for us all to keep the leaves Subscribe Past Issues Translate ---PAGE BREAK--- 11/1/2018 How to find a lost critter in Millcreek 9/11 out of the storm drains in the first place. You can mulch your leaves by chopping them up with your lawnmower or you can till them into your garden, where they provide valuable nutrients. Or you can take advantage of Wasatch Front Waste and Recycling District’s Fall Leaf Bag Collection program. From now through November 30, you can pick up free leaf bags at our new city hall at 3330 South 1300 East, Annex (south end of parking lot). Come say hello to us, then have a family leaf bagging party and drop off the filled bags at Canyon Rim Park in the east parking lot or Big Cottonwood Park near the softball complex. (Click here for a list of other locations where leaf bags are available). Thanks for helping us all out! WANNA BE A HAM? MILLCREEK. Ever wondered about becoming an Amateur Radio Operator (Ham)? Do you like to serve others in times of emergency or even just for fun in a public service event? If you answered yes to at least one of the preceding questions, then this might be for you.
