MOUNT OLYMPUS COMMUNITY COUNCIL Churchill Jr. High School November 5, 2019 Pledge of Allegiance Introduction of Council Members In Attendance: David Baird (Chair), John Knoblock, Ken Smith, , Kumar Shaw, Joan Haven, Chuck Pruitt Minutes: Minutes from the last meeting were approved. Reports: Jani Iwamoto reported on legislation being worked on such as elderly care, water banking, Native American issues. She is also working on a K9 Dog Patrol Memorial Tree at Primary Children's Hospital. Patrice Arent reported there are over 900 bills being drafted. Tax reform is uncertain, still working on clean air, the clean air caucus continues to meet at the Copper room in the capitol, sick leave extension to help families, no straight line party voting, and infant drop off. Jared Nichols, UPD- Key Bank robbery report, vehicle break-ins continue especially with unattended cars warming up, and 17 traffic stops were recorded. No significant uptick in crime. Mayor Jeff Silvestrini- HB 411 renewable energy opt-in comments needed before vote at the end of December. David suggested that the City should study Transportation impact fees for the city center. John Miller reported that the Millcreek “Common” can have alcohol served if it is not considered a park. The common design will have an open house at City Hall in December.
