EDUCATION: Strengthen and support our local schools to maximize academic success and educational outcomes envisioning all Millcreek youth as college graduates. HEALTH AND SAFETY:Work together to create a safer, healthier community through resident engagement, support of local law enforcement, fitness & nutrition programs, and health provider partnerships. ECONOMIC WELL-BEING: Enhance the economic well-being of Millcreek residents who are unemployed, underemployed or that have been denied access to education or vocational training that would result in their being able to better provide for themselves and their families. ---PAGE BREAK--- ANNOUNCEMENTS READ WITH KIDS! VOLUNTEER PROGRAM • Mill Creek Elementary has an existing literacy coach that manages the volunteers. The coach has regular check-ins with the principal, teachers, and a community school liaison- hired in house by Salt Lake County Youth Services. • 34 volunteers! • Mill Creek Elementary, Millcreek Promise, UWSL have strategized on how to measure the impact of this program. ---PAGE BREAK--- SUB-COMMITTEE CHECK-IN Health, Safety, Education, & Economic Wellbeing Sub-Committees met this month They reviewed the process & started to narrow their focus Would anyone like to share their thoughts/experiences/suggestions from these meetings? (Anything you would like to add/change as we develop our process?) Recommendations for more sub-committee members? ---PAGE BREAK--- ADJUSTMENTS TO LEADERSHIP MEETING Identify challenges, strategies and objectives for the Millcreek community and Millcreek Promise Learn about key trends by focusing on a particular issue/outcome (IGP, Safety, etc.) Learn more about one another and the Millcreek Promise approach Bring cohesion and coordination to sub- committees. Provide one place for leadership committee to learn about and contribute to all sub- committees. Create a ‘people proof’ structure Hold each other accountable to population level results, using the process & making progress. Ask questions and provide recommendations Current Meeting New Meeting ---PAGE BREAK--- NEW MEETING STRUCTURE Will meet every other month (vs. Sub-Committee chairs and co-chairs will use a template to: 1. To report out on the progress of their group; and 2.
