Olympus Community Council Tues., 11/5/19, 6 PM Churchill Jr. High 3450 E. Oakview Dr. NEWS NEW AND IMPROVED WAY IMPLEMENTED FOR CITIZENS TO FOLLOW COUNCIL MEETINGS MILLCREEK. A top priority for Millcreek's mayor and council, even before we formally incorporated, has been open and transparent government. To that end, most city council meetings have been streamed live on Facebook, for the benefit of those who can't attend in person ---PAGE BREAK--- 11/4/2019 New live streaming on city website 2/8 Millcreek Community Council Tues., 11/5/19, 6:30 PM Millcreek City Hall 3330 S. 1300 E. Sometimes even when we are airing, there are glitches in the system apparent to those of you who tried to follow the meeting on Facebook this last Monday and there was no audio feed. In an attempt to improve reliability, beginning with the November 12th meeting (moved from Monday to Tuesday due to the Veterans Day holiday) we will be utilizing a new feature to live stream through the city website. To view the new location of the live stream, visit millcreek.us and click on the far right tab at the top of the main page that says "Meeting Live Stream." All City Council meetings will be live streamed from this location starting on November 12th. Unfortunately, we will not able to live stream on both Facebook and the new system. We will notify residents through Facebook of the change. WINTER PARKING RULES IN PLACE Winter seems to be here. Larger storms are on the way bringing with them snowplowing season!! MILLCREEK. To give our snowplow drivers the ability to properly clear city roads, Millcreek has adopted winter parking rules. By ordinance, "No person shall park a vehicle on any city street when it is snowing or snow is on the street during the months of November, December, January, February, March and April." Ord. 11.20.130. Snow has started early this year. When it's snowing or there's snow on the street, we all need to remove our vehicles from roadways, including trailers and campers. Garbage and recycling cans should be taken from the street as soon as possible on collection day. Additionally, it is important that all residents keep ---PAGE BREAK--- 11/4/2019 New live streaming on city website 3/8 areas around fire hydrants clear of snow to allow for emergency services. We appreciate the cooperation of residents during the winter season. DISCLAIMER MILLCREEK. The City welcomes the new "Millcreek Journal" to our community. Note that while the publication sometimes echoes our e- news and our mailed newsletters, the Journal is a private venture that is not sponsored by the City. Utah Food Bank to Help Millcreek Residents MILLCREEK. Utah Food Bank’s Mobile Pantries provide support to Utahns living in areas that are classified as food deserts. Unfortunately, parts of Millcreek fit that classification. A food desert is an area where residents don’t have healthy, affordable food stores near them and lack sufficient transportation to get to the nearest stores. The few food resources available often lack nutrition (such as fast food restaurants) or are over-priced and under-nutritious (such as convenience stores). Local pantries may lack storage space or refrigeration, making it difficult to support the local community and offer adequate fresh food. ---PAGE BREAK--- 11/4/2019 New live streaming on city website 4/8 Last year, Utah Food Bank served 130,338 Utahns through 310 Mobile Pantry deliveries at 29 strategically placed sites around the state. The Mobile Pantry will be in Millcreek as follows: Every Saturday starting November 2nd from 11am-12pm at 3153 South 900 East, Millcreek, UT 84106 (LDS Church Parking Lot). One Friday a month at the Sunnyvale Neighborhood Center, 585 West 3900 South Salt Lake City, UT 84123, from 11:30am-12:30pm. Click here to view the Mobile Pantry's schedule. NOV 5 DEADLINE FOR FREE TURKEYS MILLCREEK. Now that trick or-treating is behind us, it's time to think about turkey! Thanksgiving is all about family, and the Unified Police Department wants to make this holiday extra special for the community they serve. This year, UPD is teaming up with the East Millcreek Lions Club to donate free turkeys to families in need. If you know of any families in need this Thanksgiving, please contact Jared Nichols at [EMAIL REDACTED] by November 5th. ---PAGE BREAK--- 11/4/2019 New live streaming on city website 5/8 We are a bit late for Halloween, but... Census Jobs ---PAGE BREAK--- 11/4/2019 New live streaming on city website 6/8 GET TO YOUR POWDER DAYS FASTER! MILLCREEK. We know many of our "Connected by Nature" residents like to spend time connecting by skiing. We also know many of you have spent time in gridlocked traffic trying to get either up or down one of the canyons. The Central Wasatch Commission, on which Mayor Silvestrini represents Millcreek as a Commmissioner, is happy to announce a way to avoid the gridlock and have a better powder day. Starting November 23, 2019, UTA’s Cottonwood Canyon ski bus will be adding more trips to Snowbird, Alta Ski Area, Solitude Mountain Resort, and Brighton Resort. There will be a 26% increase in trips in Little Cottonwood Canyon. There will be a 28% increase in trips in Big Cottonwood Canyon. This additional service is the result of work by member jurisdictions of the ---PAGE BREAK--- 11/4/2019 New live streaming on city website 7/8 Central Wasatch Commission, ski resorts, Save Our Canyons, and the Wasatch Backcountry Alliance, together with the Utah Transit Authority.
