January 2025 Millcreek Together Code Update I 18.98 Definitions Summary Sheet Chapter 18.98 Definitions A. Purpose. The purpose of this chapter is to establish defined terms used throughout the code. Terms are defined alphabetically. B. What Changed. o A significant number of new definitions were added. Each use listed as permitted, conditional, or prohibited was defined. Each sign type was defined. Other words that have particular meaning in the code, such as “Residential Zone Boundary” or “Abutting”, were given definitions. o Definitions for terms that the new code will not longer be using were eliminated. C. What Remained the Same. o Many definitions carried over from the existing code. D. Rationale for Changes. o Definitions are an important component of a code, particularly for uses, standards, and signs. Defined terms provide clarity and legal defensibility for the standards adopted in the code.
