This was a request of the residents and property owners on that street and pays homage to the historic and iconic Villa Theatre (now Adib’s Rug Gallery) that sits at the corner of the street and Highland Drive. “This name recognizes the heritage of this area in Millcreek and our commitment to preserve the building and remember the Villa Theatre,” said Mayor Jeff Silvestrini. “It speaks to the unique history of this area.” With ground breaking on the Richmond at Millcreek coming up this fall, the timing was right for a fresh rebranding of the street. The Richmond at Millcreek will be built in the old parking lot west of the former theater and will include 328 residential units and 13,000 square feet of ground floor retail, with angled parking on “Villa Vista Avenue.” TOMORROW ---PAGE BREAK--- 9/30/2019 Homage paid to Millcreek's iconic Villa Theatre 3/11 THURSDAY ---PAGE BREAK--- 9/30/2019 Homage paid to Millcreek's iconic Villa Theatre 4/11 Participating Businesses: 2020 Census Jobs; Associated Food Stores; Avalon Healthcare; Golden Customer Care; Great Clips; Home Depot; People Helping People; Right at Home of Salt Lake; Roots Café; Salt Lake City Corporation; Securitas Security; St. Mark's Hospital; Utah First Bank; Wasatch Lawn; Wentworth; Western Governor's University; Willow Wood Care Center; Loveridge Machine & Tool; G4S Secure Solutions; Smart Staffing; OSS Suppressors; Life Care Center of Utah ---PAGE BREAK--- 9/30/2019 Homage paid to Millcreek's iconic Villa Theatre 5/11 Utah's Wood Stove Conversion Assistance Program Offered in Parts of Millcreek MILLCREEK. Many Millcreek gardeners find themselves at harvest time with more fruits and vegetables then they know what to do with. Fall brings apples, plums an lots of root vegetables. An overabundance of these delicious crops used to go to waste until 2016, when Pat Thomas founded Backyard GardenShare. Backyard GardenShare distributes garden surplus with local families, immigrants, and refugees. This simple produce-sharing program helps to directly combat hunger and malnutrition in our neighborhoods with healthy fresh food. It's a win-win for Millcreekers who have extra produce they hate to see wasted and those who could really use and appreciate it. There are dozens of collection sites in our area, many of which are just your neighbor's front porch. Click here to find a drop site near you. One in seven Utahns face hunger on a daily basis, but this program is a wonderful and simple way to do your part to help relieve that hunger. Since the founding of Backyard GardenShare, more than 50,000 pounds of fresh produce have been collected and distributed. To share your harvest, click here to get involved.
