Sam passed away earlier this week, after a long struggle with cancer although one would not have known it from the effort he made to fulfill his responsibilities with vigor and a with a great sense of humor to the end. Sam was a mentor to me. He set a great example of integrity and fidelity to his core values of family and loyalty. As the representative of "the Great District on the County Council, Sam was an advocate on the Council for Millcreek. At the outset of our new city, he helped us considerably by fighting for our issues and helping us to obtain start-up funding. Our city got off to a good start in large part because of Sam's involvement and help. Many condolences to his wife, Ann, and their family. We will miss you tremendously, Sam. Peace. -Jeff Silvestrini, Mayor REMINDER OF PLANNING MEETING Just a quick reminder of the meeting Monday, April 30, 5:30 to 7:00 pm, at City Hall, with Subscribe Past Issues Translate ---PAGE BREAK--- 11/1/2018 Remembering Sam 3/9 Thur., 5/3/18, 6:30 PM; Millcreek Community Center, 2266 East Evergreen Ave. City Council Mon., 5/14/18 Time and agenda to be announced stakeholders to plan how to manage development pressure in the area around Highland Drive and the Brickyard ("the Wedge"). This week, a large group of volunteers (that included Subscribe Past Issues Translate ---PAGE BREAK--- 11/1/2018 Remembering Sam 4/9 Councilman Dwight Marchant) planted 30 new trees in the Scott Avenue Park. TreeUtah organized the effort. It was good timing, as Salt Lake County's Flood Control was required to remove many trees from the levee, in another part of the park. We owe TreeUtah and the volunteers many thanks. Their efforts will leave a wonderful legacy to future generations who will come to enjoy the park. THINGS TO DO TOMORROW FOR A SATURDAY OF FUN!
