Public Comments Open House Comment Facebook Comment I'm fine with roundabouts. It seems like people are getting better at using them. Especially if it means that section of Highland gets repaved! Wouldn't mind seeing a HAWK at the Gunn Avenue crossing but I know they're pricey Yes If you have the roundabouts there needs to be a hard medium that cars can not cross. Otherwise people will not use the roundabout correctly and continue to try and make turns that stop traffic Yes Are there that many people off Mountair wanting to walk over a buy a rug? There is a light at Miller where they can currently cross isn't there? I'm a big fan of roundabouts when people know how to use them, but most people will end up using them as a stop sign and delaying traffic more than necessary. My opinion. Yes I like roundabouts for traffic control but I still don't see much in the plan to accomodate access for families with children. I see the pedestrian crossing but I am not sure what how the pedestrian accesses from surrounding areas? It seems to cater to road biking and driving but still leave the pedestrian out Yes I live in the area, right on Highland. We drive South, but walk North. Roundabouts would definitely make the street more pedestrian friendly. Yes Is this change assuming one lane of traffic each way with a turn lane? Or two traffic lanes each way? It looks like anyone traveling north who wants to go to del taco or lumpys will be stopping to turn left almost immediately after leaving the roundabout, which would block up traffic in the circle Yes ---PAGE BREAK--- I think resurfacing 1300 East is a much bigger priority. Making roundabouts on a major artery to accommodate a couple of side streets seems like an enormous waste of money, even if 1300 East wasn't in such bad shape. We'd be better off with just a traffic light at Elgin, if it's even needed. Yes this is a bad idea Yes No roundabouts! Yes Love the idea! I sit at both of those roundabout intersections on a regular basis waiting to cross Highland on my bike going to and from work. Even when the light changes, I have to wait for numerous cars running the red light. The crosswalk currently close to Del Taco is a joke because to get 4 lanes of fast moving traffic to stop is nearly impossible at a busy time of day. I wish people in Utah were as aware of pedestrians as other states I've lived and visited. Yes Where can I find out more about this online...the graphic/map here is quite small. Thanks Yes Great idea. That area definitely needs to be more walkable. Yes Roundabouts on Highland Drive? Are you kidding? Do the words, "HELL NO" mean anything to you? I will personally get a sign out and protest this if I must Yes Utah drivers have no idea how to properly use roundabouts. I'd say Hell No to them too! NO NO NO Yes Ditto...no, no, double no. Yes Love roundabouts, larger ones even better, requires more space though Yes ---PAGE BREAK--- We don't need round abouts Yes It seems like this would direct more auto traffic to 1300E which is a larger and higher speed arterial. That makes sense. This piece of Highland could become a slower zone that is friendlier for peds and bikes. The planned improvements in the area (mountair lilacs and bus stop improvements) might turn this zone into a really fun destination attractive to some local businesses. Thinking of 9th & 9th? Are there any plans to connect bikes and peds to brickyard? Right now that's where all the destinations are that I would use. I expect that could change in the future, though Yes Is anyone from Millcreek City reading these responses? A few people have asked questions which are apparently being ignored. Yes Those who REALLY don't like roundabouts... Do I detect some roadrage? Yes Roundabouts are good, but make sure they are designed so that Peds and Bikes can get through them comfortably Yes As discussed during our meeting Saturday, those of us who have lived in Mountair for decades would love to see a couple of the 60-80 year old lilac bushes tended to and included in any plan. Thanks Yes Plant for habitat. How about helping the Western Monarch by adding a bunch of butterfly friendly plants including MIlkweed. Let's have something good for people AND other species. Thanks Yes Most of those green ways don’t look very green Yes ---PAGE BREAK--- I like all the concepts and I think Millcreek is uniquely positioned geographically to utilize concepts from each. The idea of a green way that connects the mountains to the urban core is really appealing Yes Where would Millcreek City place the greenway Yes They all have distinct purposes and advantages. All depends on location and environment. The Montreal strip is a speck of green within a busy area, the High Line in NY is a converted elevated railway with amazing views, functional spaces along the way for food stands and seating, and the Legacy Parkway is multifunctional and works well for recreation. I'd love to see more green spaces in our area before it's too late to plan something Yes Depends so much on the context. In general they are all great! If it could connect and further regional active transportation goals/network then I like the legacy pkway example. If it is a small area in front of new housing (town homes or appartments) then I'd say the Montreal example. Yes Don’t forget to save a lilac! Yes we can’t lose current pedestrian crossing at Miller Yes Plant trees and roundabouts Yes Open to you at roundabout because people run red lights all the time. Just worry about use of getting out of neighborhood at peak traffic times. Yes Roundabout at Miller Yes Need a left turn lane into new development. Yes ---PAGE BREAK--- Welcome to Millcreek Mill should be in roundabout. No one will see it if it is on the lilac strip. (wrong side of the road) -Barrier/planters/grass strip to limit or eliminate left- hand turns which are stopping traffic? (Also on 1300 - no crossing in the middle. Do the crossing closer to the bus stops. (We live on Mountair- right by that crossing) -Do owl eye crossing at Elgin rather than another roundabout.Pedestrian crosswalk – don’t put it where left turn is. Yes Need pedestrian crossing at Elgin Yes This would work for me – except folks aren’t used to them here. I agree. I like the symmetry in these designs. Make sure roundabouts have perennial plants. Yes Will round about force more traffic onto Crescent? Want to Highland Drive to be a Boulevard Dash two lanes, left turn lanes. Trees down center of Highland between left- hand turn lane’s. Will roundabout force more traffic onto Crescent? Want Highland Drive to be a Boulevard – two lanes left turn lanes. Trees down center of Highland between left-hand turn lanes. Yes like the roundabouts would like to see large trees and landscaping in the center -some sound barrier -we need traffic lights not rounabouts -Put welcome to mill creek signage in center of roundabout so it is seen instead of the corner -Water usage should be number one priority! Water is a limited resource. Probably more limited in future. What is impact of all developments population growth? What is projected population of this area of mill creek after whole city center project completed? Yes ---PAGE BREAK--- pedestrian on circles. Yes. Yes what about snow removal around the roundabouts? Would it be more difficult? Yes I’d like to see a safety study in roundabout- if we do put them in, I think there needs to be better education about right of way (three entering do not have right of way). In recovering the “lilacs”. Also dangerous for pedestrians -How about 2 crossways a little closer to the edges so people aren’t crossings at the round shouts (nobody will walk to the middle). Yes Amen. Yes Sound wall Yes Xeriscaping shrubs Yes Pedestrian passages through the sound wall Yes I have mixed feelings about trash and recycle receptacles Yes If this is the general area for the mill wheel I hope the style will match or coordinate with the mill will depicted in the rendering for Mill Park currently one is very traditional and the other is contemporary they should be designed as a pair Yes Don’t isolate the neighbors perhaps a serpentine wall to block noise but with trees and greenery on both sides Yes Walkway should go on the end small children Yes Barrier to signify residential area Yes Please have benches with backs they are much better for many of us Yes If mill wheel is placed by a bus stop please separate it from the bus shelter and give it some room The proposed bus stop shelter right now looks like the back of a truck Please give that a more natural feel like it blends in rather than is forced Yes ---PAGE BREAK--- Can there be a straight sidewalk but somewhat wide for strollers people walking together to please separate the sidewalk from the road way with a strip of Lawn or even decorative rocks Yes Trees and plants will help the wall to Yes Need for sound wall along Mount air Yes Trees and lilacs with a winding sidewalk Yes This will be curb so no cars were parked here Yes Low grasses and lawn Yes Landscape boxes Yes Of the choices given highline. It is eco-friendly maintenance less demanding, granbury at highland needed. Keep some lilacs!! Yes Who maintains the space? I like this better, it has softer planting areas no real large solid walls to shelter nefarious deeds or homeless. Keep or plants and lilacs!! Yes this design has too many benches, that means garbage on the ground. Who would keep the grounds clean? We live on mountain drive and we would see all the garbage. Yes The benches in this design need seating dividers to prevent sleeping there! Yes I like the idea of a water wheel, and lots of landscaping. I don't think a hard barrier would be aesthetically appealing, unless it is small Yes walkway material on The high line is more appealing than asphalt. These look like granite planks. That would be nice so that water can get through. Yes using evergreens for more barriers, rather than walls or a structure barrier appeals to me Yes ---PAGE BREAK--- the highlights for The high line photos come from photo 2 and 4. Photo to show steel barriers with the fence like material that incorporates vegetation. This is similar to other structures in SLC. Photo for has segmented boxes with what appears to be native grasses. It's the combination of more modern steel and natural landscaping that is effective. I really like this one! Yes The benches are nice but we need to consider how to make them non sleepable. we need to prevent the homeless from using this as their new home. Also need to consider garbage cans. Also need lots and lots of bright lighting! Yes benches invite home list. The bus shelter should be open, with side support for protection from the elements. Skip the benches. Yes more grass and greenery and less wood, concrete, Etc. Would improve this. But I like the general feel, separate from the businesses Etc. Below butt with a nice panoramic view of the city. Benches with locks are best. And please have adequate nicely planned lighting Yes love the design of the water will sign, hope to see the water will theme in many public areas and Millcreek, especially in the public gathering areas. Yes the water will looks like a pioneer wagon wheel. Let's look forward and do a new stainless steel or other metal water wheel or water feature that says the future and history of Millcreek. Yes I like the design of The high line Park the best I really like the area where people are walking on the water to cool their feet. We should make sure that we include the lilacs. Yes ---PAGE BREAK--- Too straight too stark needs softer lines and trees and lilacs. Yes it would be nice to have elevation like a burn or a few mounds to help the space feel more like a park. Also not opposed to the idea of having a small wall or something as a barrier. Lots of trees and planting too to help reduce noise. Yes it would be nice to have elevation like a burn or a few mounds to help the space feel more like a park. Also not opposed to the idea of having a small wall or something as a barrier. Lots of trees and planting too to help reduce noise. Yes Safety riding bike and walking dogs, that's why I like this one. Yes I really like this concept. I walk more the sidewalk to border highland drive side and add a sound wall along mountaire drive to help with the noise and safety. I would also add more lighting on the mount are side, as someone who lives on Mount Ayr this could greatly help the majority of complaints. Yes I like this, but it need the soundwall on the mountainside. Sidewalk on the highland drive side Yes Do all your benches on the fault line. and leave the lilac area a green space only, with no barrier wall. sincerely, a mountain drive resident. Yes need sound barrier on Mount Aire side and maybe attractive wall to keep children pets from crossing over to highland. Yes ---PAGE BREAK--- The Montreal photos best represent the needs of the community both aesthetically and practically. there needs to be a wall on the mount are side. This improves the optics from the homes while also reducing the sound. Trees and various greenery will be important as well both for sound reduction and aesthetics. So take clues from the Montreal photos, but also consider a wall. Yes this needs more green space and less asphalt, walks, roads, Etc. We need as much green space as possible in our city centre! And please give us some sort of fountain or small water feature. I like the one from the highline. Additionally, a splash pad would be for kids and some sort of playground. But we need green and an attractive beautiful water feature! Yes the sidewalk should remain on the highland drive side to provide more safety and sound barrier for the neighborhood. I would like to see more trees and some stretches of lilacs. Also lots of lighting!! If you drive south on highland currently, as soon as you hit Millcreek, it's a black hole! Yes This looks like somewhere you’d pull over to use the bathroom. Yes too rustic Yes keep lilac (although berry bushes are in the middle of the lilacs). Yes limit trees – power poles overhead meaning the trees would be cut in odd shapes. Yes no barrier- leave it all green space Yes i’d like to have these areas for running, walking... But at the same time I really want to keep the privacy for our neighborhood as it is. Would it be possible behind the bush area? Yes ---PAGE BREAK--- I like the look of the Highline, but would like more trees. Maybe prune and keep 1 to 2 lilacs, but not all. Prefer to keep it open but not opposed to a sound wall. Just make it beautiful on both sides. Yes more trees and lilacs!! Need to preserve historical significance. Large trees and natural sound barrier Yes this is nice with its open spaces. But decorative bushes, some trees to break up the sameness look would be great additions – and flowers – I would prefer a planned nature look rather than unplanned weeds. But grass, parks, open spaces need to feature in to Millcreek City as much as possible. I want us to find a place along Millcreek where we can have a natural, parklike setting and allow residents to sit and walk and look and enjoy our gorgeous creek! Yes Who would be in charge of clearing snow from the walkway? Yes ---PAGE BREAK--- Example Reference What For How do these intersections make you feel? How do these intersections make you feel?
