Mental health partners have seen an uptick in demand for their respective services. Health and Ed. Promise Internet Essentials- Launch in home internet access in 100 homes by Dec. 2021 2. Launch 1 Millcreek COMCAST lift Project zone in 2021. 3. Robust Job Fair- Provide access to and enroll 50 English Language Learners* in employment improvement resources. ---PAGE BREAK--- ECONOMIC WELLBEING SC CONFIGURATION Subcommittee Membership 2 non profit orgs 4 personal volunteers 1 Bank 3 educational institutions ---PAGE BREAK--- ECONOMIC WELLBEING AND SAFETY SUBCOMMITTEES (COVID Merger) Today’s Presenter Ashley Cleveland Millcreek Promise Program ---PAGE BREAK--- REASONS FOR TEMPORARILY MERGING SAFETY AND EW ◼Since November 2020, both subcommittees have shifted their focus towards the realm of digital inclusion and expanding access to safety information for Millcreek residents, students, parents, and low income individuals in a time of COVID and COVID restrictions.This realization occurred because they had been overlapping in outreach efforts since July 2020. ◼They will be separating again in April 2021. ---PAGE BREAK--- COVID Brainstorming Actions STRATEGY 1: UPDATING MILLCREEK SAFETY WEBPAGE Utilize existing web page to better share identified resources around Mill Creek Elementary Action(s): Millcreek Promise Safety Subcommittee is creating content. We need to meet with more organizations to get a detailed scope of services. Overlap? STRATEGY 4: COLLABORATIVE CODE ENFORCEMENT Work with SL County Health, Housing Authority of SL, Millcreek PTA, Millcreek Precinct, Property owners, and property management to see how we can improve resources & outcomes for families at that complex. Action(s): We’ve reached out to Millcreek Code Enforcement, Housing Authority, and will be strategizing how to engage property owner and management. Overlap? STRATEGY 3: RESOURCE PANTRY AT HOLLADAY HILLS APARTMENTS Work with Mill Creek El. Social worker, Evergreen Jr. and existing community resources to highlight the existing resources and have families utilize them. Action(s): MP SSC Member & PTA president will reach out to social worker and both principals for thoughts. MP SSC Member will reach out to existing resources from their profession (LMSW) October 2020. Overlap? All strategies are in an exploratory phase of gathering information on existing programs and opportunities. Action items have been assigned to group members for follow-up and assessment during February 2020 meeting. STRATEGY 1: Promise Internet Essentials Project & City Hall Drive up Internet Priority driver(s): Digital Inclusion and employment access Action MP Economic Wellbeing SC will • Promote Drive up Internet • Distribute Digital Devices • Get 200 families signed up for Promise IE Project ---PAGE BREAK--- PROGRESS, KEY INSIGHTS, OR BRIGHT SPOTS ◼ Shifted focus to digital inclusion and housing assistance ◼ A COVID-19 Equity and Racial Response Team (CERRT) is launched with Promise Partners and their volunteers. ◼ Millcreek Promise with CurlyMe! received a 50,000 grant to provide housing assistance, mental health check ins, and digital inclusion to Millcreek residents. ◼ Progress in both is being tracked and monitored by a team comprised of Pik2AR and Millcreek Promise. ---PAGE BREAK--- COVID Actions STRATEGY 1: UPDATED MILLCREEK SAFETY WEBPAGE Utilize existing web page to better share identified resources around Mill Creek Elementary Action(s): Millcreek Promise Safety Subcommittee is created content. Action(s): We’ve reached out to GSD for a city outreach access card, engaged with 22 Millcreek schools, over 100 families in December, and Pik2AR screened so many eligibility calls. 50 payments were processed Millcreek landlords. STRATEGY 3: FOOD BANK AT MILL CREEK ELEMENTARY Work with Mill Creek El. principal, social worker. and existing community resources to have families access Utah Food Bank items and fresh produce & dairy.. Action(s): MP SSC Member & PTA president will reach out to social worker and both principals for thoughts. MP manager and supervisor will purchase needed resources to designate the food pantry officially with GSD. All strategies are in an exploratory phase of gathering information on existing programs and opportunities. Action items have been assigned to group members for follow-up and assessment during February 2020 meeting. Millcreek Promise purchased industrial fridge to designate site as a GSD Food Bank 1. Millcreek Promise worked with a local electric sign firm and the Business Council to encourage donations 1. Millcreek Promise Safety Subcommittee made flier for Food Bank Donation Drive for: ◼Social media ◼Enewsletter ◼Apartments ---PAGE BREAK--- PROGRESS, KEY INSIGHTS, OR BRIGHT SPOTS STRATEGY 2: PROMISE INTERNET ESSENTIALS & CITY HALL DRIVE UP INTERNET 1. Raised Funding for 100 Millcreek Households to have sponsored in home internet service (September and October) 2. Pik2AR and volunteers did direct outreach to multi family units in 84106, 84107, 8117, 84123 and western 84124 3. 38 codes provided, 9 people signed up for Promise Internet Essentials 23% success rate (December) 4. 38 codes provided, people signed up for COMCAST Internet Essentials 5. people signed up for COMCAST Internet Essentials in 84106, 84107, 84109, 84117, 84123 and 84124 (June- now) STRATEGY 4: COLLABORATIVE HOUSING ASSISTANCE 1. Millcreek Youth Council reached out to 22 Millcreek schools and affiliate schools with fliers 2. Safety Subcommittee volunteers took flier to schools, grocery stores, 7/11, laundromats, and other businesses 3. Pik2AR and volunteers did direct outreach to multi family units in 84106, 84107, 8117, 84123 and western 84124 4. Over 100 households were reached, 50 households got $400 rental assistance payments to their Millcreek landlords 5. Of the 100+ households in the Pik2AR Housing Assistance pipeline, 51% were successful in receiving service ---PAGE BREAK--- Post COVID Actions? We need to meet with more organizations to get a detailed scope of services. Overlap? ---PAGE BREAK--- DESIRED OUTCOME AND INDICATORS Outcome: ◼At least 100 of the 800 Millcreek households without internet, have in home internet service. ◼Residents have access to resources for housing assistance. ◼Residents have access to DV prevention resources and DV assistance resources. ---PAGE BREAK--- Current Avenues Being Explored ◼How to strengthen the relationship between Millcreek Promise, Latino/a/x and refugee families, and non profit service providers. ◼Creating an online list of resources to help combat digital access gaps, domestic violence and housing instability. ◼Digital device allocation and internet service dissemination for parents (how to use sign up for internet service, how to get laptops, etc.) ◼Additional support from non profit service providers to help bolster intervention promotions. ---PAGE BREAK--- HELP THE TEAM NEEDS TO MAKE PROGRESS ◼Recognizing the growing need to support not only digital inclusion, but equity overall in Millcreek as well, does anyone have recommendations for how our subcomitteer can support ongoing efforts in Millcreek? ◼The Mill Creek Elementary Food Pantry and Resource Center can always use volunteers but it needs to be done in a COVID friendly manner. If you know someone who wants to volunteer, have them call the school 385-646- 4912.
