In yesterday's Unified Police Department Board Meeting, Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera and Millcreek Mayor Jeff Silvestrini announced that they have chosen UPD Lieutenant Christine Petty-Brown as the new chief of UPD's Millcreek precinct. Pending ratification at the next UPD Board meeting, Petty-Brown will be the second police chief of Millcreek, filling the vacancy left by Chief Steve DeBry’s retirement earlier this month. “We are extremely fortunate to have the position of Millcreek Precinct Chief be filled by Lt. Petty-Brown,” said Mayor Silvestrini. “For the past four years, she has been the executive officer of the Millcreek precinct and knows our community well. Her leadership, experience, and vision will serve our city well,” he said. Petty-Brown has 25 years of experience in law enforcement, including leadership roles at both the UPD Firearms Range and the Forensic Investigation Unit, as a patrol sergeant with the Violent Crimes and Special Victims Unit, and as a correctional officer. She holds a B.S. in Sociology from the University of Utah and an Associate of Science from Snow College. “I am very excited to continue in Millcreek,” she said. “I’m especially looking forward to integrating better with city leadership in our new shared building and to create a culture of unity and partnership throughout the city.” REMINDER We will begin moving to our new city offices at 1330 E Chambers Avenue this weekend. Our employees will be divided between two buildings, and while we will be working hard to ensure as smooth a transition as possible, we anticipate there will be many hiccups along the way. We also anticipate that these issues may persist for several weeks after we have fully moved in as we and our residents get used to our new space, so we continue to ask for your patience going forward. ---PAGE BREAK--- City services such as Building Permits & Inspections, Business Licensing, Public Works Permits, Planning Applications, and Report a Concern are designed to be done completely online through our website. If you need to speak with an employee in- person, call or email the person you need and set up an appointment. Youth Council Costume Drive Success! MILLCREEK. This past Monday, members of the Millcreek Youth Council gathered to sort through the Halloween costumes donated by Millcreek residents to the Youth Council's Halloween Costume Drive. Overall, 50 costumes were donated. The Youth Council delivered the costumes to James E. Moss Elementary, where Principal Lindsay Adams was thrilled to accept them. Children who otherwise would not have been receiving a new Halloween costume this year will now be able to show them off at the school's Costume Parade later this month. Afterwards, they will get to keep the costumes and enjoy some trick-or-treating on Halloween night. ---PAGE BREAK--- The Youth Council would like to express their gratitude to all the Millcreek residents who donated costumes. KSL caught wind of the Youth Council's drive and sent Big Budah to City Hall to capture the story. You can watch Part 1 of the story HERE, and Part 2 of the story HERE. Attention Drivers!
