ANNOUNCEMENTS Public Meetings City Council Mon., 1/27/25 Regular Session 7pm City Hall, 2nd Floor 1330 E. Chambers Avenue See Agenda Below NEWS Youth Council Members Meet and Mingle with City Council and Legislators at Local Officials Day MILLCREEK. Each year on the second day of the legislative session, the Utah League of Cities and Towns (ULCT) hosts city Youth Council members and legislators for a day on the hill. This year once again, the Millcreek Youth Council took full advantage of the opportunity to get to know the legislative policy makers and have an inside look at how the legislative process works. 1/27/25, 8:54 AM Local Officials Day at the Capitol 1/19 ---PAGE BREAK--- Youth Council members started the day with a continental breakfast at the Capital. Millcreek Senator Nate Blouin gave them a tour of the Capital before they adjourned to the Salt Palace for breakout sessions and lunch. Attendees had the opportunity to participate in mock floor debates after submitting their own policy proposals for consideration. Each mock debate helped the Youth Council members understand the many steps a bill must go through to become law. Members also attended panel discussions on the Utah legislative college internship program, advocacy, and legislative processes. During lunch, members talked with their representatives, got to know them, and learned why they chose to run for office. More members of the Millcreek Youth Council joining in Local Officials Day at the Capitol, with City Manager Mike Winder, Rep. Doug Owens, and Millcreek Promise Program educator Collyn Mosquito. We appreciate the Utah League of Cities and Towns for providing this wonderful opportunity for youth in Utah and thank the many legislators including Carol Spackman Moss, Doug Owens, Nate Blouin. and Rosalba Dominguez, who took the time to give the members a glimpse into legislative life. Millcreek is proud of its Youth Council members and feel confident that we will see more of them in the future, possibly even as a Representative, Senator, or Governor? 1/27/25, 8:54 AM Local Officials Day at the Capitol 2/19 ---PAGE BREAK--- More members of the Millcreek Youth Council join Mayor Silvestrini and councilmembers DeSirant, Catten and Jackson, Andrew Gruber, Executive Director of the Wasatch Front Regional Council and Rep.
