1 Job Announcement Economic Development Assistant Opens: Wednesday, February 22, 2023 Closes: Open until filled Will begin reviewing applications on 2/27/2023 Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Hiring Range: $22.00—$25.00 per hour Competitive Benefits Package—see page 5-6 Under direction of the Economic Development Director, the Economic Development Assistant provides highly responsible and complex administrative and technical support associated with the Economic Development Department. Incumbent is also responsible for assisting in the recruitment, retention, and expansion of business and organizations within the City. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Meet performance standards established with the employee’s supervisor. 2. Attend meetings; prepare letters, reports, memos, presentations, minutes, and other general correspondence as needed. 3. Schedule and organize meetings and conferences for Economic Development Director/City Manager, and Mayor. 4. Maintain filing system for Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) documents and other department files. 5. Assist with communication outreach to area business leaders as needed. 6. Provide staff support to the Millcreek Business Council such as event preparation, recruiting Business Council Committee members, social media management and marketing, etc. 7. Manage volunteers for Millcreek Business Council events. 8. Represent the Economic Development Department at intergovernmental meetings as needed. 9. Provide first contact assistance to the general public seeking information about economic development within the City. 10. Perform other duties as assigned. ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: a. Associate degree or two years of educational training beyond high school from a regionally accredited college or university with course work in business, accounting, office administration or a closely related field required. b. Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major course work in political science, communications, economics, business, or a closely related field preferred. c. At least two years of highly responsible administrative support experience, event management, or community and intergovernmental relations required. Special Qualifications: a. Valid Utah Class D Driver’s License required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: a. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft products; b. Skill in word processing, spreadsheets, office machine usage and general computer operation; c. Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures; of grammar, spelling and punctuation; of modern filing systems related to alphabetical and numeric files; d. Working knowledge of administrative procedures; of legal processes associated with the maintenance of public records and documents; e. Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing; f. Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information; g. Excellent organizational skills; h. Ability to interact with elected officials, the public, City stakeholders, and administrative staff in a professional manner; i. Ability to answer incoming phone calls in a professional manner; j. Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and to act resourcefully under varying conditions; k. Willingness and ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with some travel to different sites and may be required to travel outside City boundaries to attend meetings. Light physical effort and usually comfortable working positions. 2. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. 3. Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction 4. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. 5.
