09-03-21: PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE; CAMP TRACY; CANDIDATE FORUM; PARK CLEANUP; JOB FAIR; etc. View this email in your browser Announcements City Offices will be closed Mon., 9/6/2021 for Labor Day PUBLIC MEETINGS Millcreek Community Council Tues., 9/7/2021, 6:30 pm NEWS NEW PROPERTY MAINTENANCE CODE TOOK EFFECT THIS WEEK MILLCREEK. Last May, the Millcreek City Council discussed and approved a new Property Maintenance Code, Section 15.44. The new code went into effect this past Wednesday, September 1, 2021. In the past, property maintenance regulations covered only a few neighborhood safety and nuisance concerns, such as weeds, junk vehicles, ---PAGE BREAK--- City Hall, 3330 S 1300 E Or CLICK HERE to participate virtually Mt. The new property maintenance code expands those concerns to vacant structures, dead trees, graffiti, poor drainage, open storage, and other like nuisances. The intent of this new code is to provide our city's code officers with additional tools to assist in keeping Millcreek safe, secure, and looking good. The new code includes the following: Code compliance inspector responsibility – to ensure that property areas seen from the city right-of-way (street or sidewalk) meets the minimum standards of the code Property owner responsibility – ultimate responsibility for the care of a property is the owner Vacant structures and land – these shall be kept clean, safe, secure, and sanitary Outdoor storage – this should be kept under roof and on a solid surface, not in the open Yard drainage – water shall drain away from foundations and not puddle Dead or damaged trees – the hazard shall be eliminated Accessory structures (sheds, fences) – maintain them in good structural condition Graffiti or destruction of property – shall be cleaned up or repaired Driveways and sidewalks – maintained in good repair Swimming pools and pool fences – shall be maintained in a safe and clean condition Structures – shall be maintained. This means surfaces shall be finished with paint, stucco, siding, etc., windows and doors shall operate correctly, stairways and rails shall be secure and safe, roofing and skylights shall be sound, and property features such as fences and gates shall be well maintained Property identification – a posted address Appliances and interior furniture – not to be stored on site and all trash shall be removed Electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and storm drains – shall be maintained in a safe condition If you have any questions, please call [PHONE REDACTED] and ask for a ---PAGE BREAK--- code compliance inspector.
