See agenda below See our Calendar of Events here A Message from Mayor Silvestrini MILLCREEK. Last month, City Manager John Geilmann and I traveled to San Francisco on Millcreek’s behalf to meet with rating agencies to establish our city’s first bond rating. Our bond rating reflects the financial stability of our city and is part of our ability to borrow for large projects, such as the park strip in our proposed City Center. It affects the interest rate the city would have to pay for any such loans, as well as the attractiveness to investors of the bonds we issue how secure the bonds are deemed to be). We spent the day in interviews with three different bond-rating agencies, including Standard & Poor's Global Rating Agency, where we explained and answered questions about Millcreek’s finances, its tax base, its economy and its management. Lacking a long financial history with the ten years of audited financial statements which these ratings agencies typically like to see, we wondered how we would fare. I was impressed by how prepared our interviewers were. They had thoroughly reviewed the available information and read our press clippings. We had an opportunity to explain how and why our city was formed, the goals our council has set and the structure and breadth of Millcreek’s businesses, taxable value and sales tax base. Despite of our short history as a city, S&P Global Ratings has since issued a ratings letter advising us that our finances, fiscal prudence, and management convinced them that we deserved a AA+ rating which is the highest rating possible for a city our size. The high AA+ rating Millcreek received bodes well for our future ability to deliver the projects Millcreek residents may desire. It is a reward for our hard work to deliver a city government worthy of our great community. I want to thank our City Council for its fiscal discipline. I am happy that we can celebrate this significant accomplishment. ---PAGE BREAK--- 7/8/2019 Millcreek is proud of its newly acquired AA+ bond rating 3/10 TONIGHT ---PAGE BREAK--- 7/8/2019 Millcreek is proud of its newly acquired AA+ bond rating 4/10 MONDAY AT 7PM This MONDAY July 8 - Slim Chance & his Billy Playboys (Country) Join us for a FREE concert at 7 PM on Monday night at the Canyon Rim Park Amphitheater, 3100 South and 2900 East. Your City has formed a Recycling and Sustainability Committee. The group will discuss the challenges of the new recycling world now that China has implemented its "National Sword" policy and is now accepting only very clean and much smaller amounts of material to be recycled from the U.S. The Committee will be working towards educating Millcreek residents about what can and cannot be recycled and encouraging residents to consider seriously the first two R's of the "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" slogan. There is still a place for recycling but considering how to better reduce and reuse is something we all should think about. Committee members will be working with Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling to pass on recycling tips. For example, did you know that you can recycle your old mattresses for a nominal fee? Spring Back Mattress (at 1929 South 4130 West) will take your used mattresses, and will recycle 100% of its materials. The recycling fee for mattresses is $10 per piece. The company will also come pick up your mattress for an additional $40. This is a much better option than sending your old mattress to the landfill for $15 per piece where it won't be recycled. For more information, call Spring Back Mattress at 801-906 -8146 or visit them at www.springbackutah.com. Getting rid of old mattresses can be a real pain and ---PAGE BREAK--- 7/8/2019 Millcreek is proud of its newly acquired AA+ bond rating 6/10 here is a real (and green) solution.
