Produce of any kind, grown in your garden, is needed in Millcreek. Donate it, instead of tossing it, and you will make someone’s day! Fruit and vegetables are collected at nine locations in our city and taken to Millcreek organizations that provide food to those in need. Tuesday is collection day and Wednesday is delivery day. A part of Millcreek Promise, the program has, in each of the past two weeks, ---PAGE BREAK--- collected between 70-85 pounds of produce for Millcreek neighbors. We hope contributions will grow as the summer harvest continues. Block parties are a great way to meet your neighbors. They provide a casual, relaxed setting to meet, play, eat, and build connected communities. This year, Millcreek and its VentureOut! program want to help residents launch eight block parties in Millcreek throughout September. Top 7 reasons to host a neighborhood block party: 1. Build a safer neighborhood 2. Address resident concerns 3. Get to know neighbors 4. Greet neighbors you don't often seen ---PAGE BREAK--- Venture Out! team members will work with neighbors to host, plan, permit, advertise, and provide games and activities for your Neighborhood Block Party. 5. Have a day of service or clean up project 6. Bring harmony to the neighborhood 7. Have fun as a neighborhood! Let's get started! To host a block party on your street, apply at VentureOut.org. Applications are due this coming Wednesday, August 14. Eight applicants will be selected and then notified on Friday, August 16. Block parties can be held anytime between Sept 6 and Sept 30, 2024. ARTS COUNCIL FURTHER INFORMATION AND APPLICATION FORM HERE ---PAGE BREAK--- ---PAGE BREAK--- SUMMER JAM CONCERT SERIES MONDAY, AUGUST 12TH AT 7 PM AT CANYON RIM PARK. ---PAGE BREAK--- The Millcreek Arts Council will present Samba Fogo at the Summer Jam series on Monday, August 12th for the last concert in the 2024 series at Canyon Rim Park. If you haven't already heard of Sambo Fogo, click here to learn about this fantastic group of performers. ---PAGE BREAK--- Initially released in October 2023, an updated version of the final Central Wasatch Commission’s Visitor Use Study final report is now available to the public. The Visitor-Use Study report details the findings of an effort designed to better understand the visitors and visitor experiences offered on Forest Service land within the Central Wasatch Mountains. The report serves as a base of information that can be used to inform the decisions of both the USDA Forest Service as well as the many entities represented on the Central Wasatch Commission. CONSTRUCTION NOTICE ---PAGE BREAK--- Road Closure – 3100 E between 3900 S and Upland Drive MILLCREEK. Please be aware that 3100 East, between 39th South and Upland Drive, will be closed until mid-September due to a stormwater utility construction project. The closure will affect commuting hours before and after school for Upland Terrace Elementary, Wasatch Junior High, and Skyline High School. We understand that this closure will impact the community and commuters in the area. We encourage all drivers to plan ahead, take alternative routes, and anticipate possible delays when traveling in the area. Pedestrian access on 3100 East will remain open during construction, and contractors will pause activities during safe walking route hours. A project team member will guide pedestrians through the construction area to ensure safety. Your safety is our top priority, and we have taken all necessary measures to ensure a secure pedestrian passage. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation. The KSL NewsRadio coverage is available HERE. Word is getting out that Millcreek Common has great dining. Millcreek Pizza House was mentioned as one of "five excellent outdoor dining options" in the Sandy City Journal HERE. Meetings with the Mayor Fridays from 2-4pm have been set aside for citizens to meet with Mayor Jeff Silvestrini. Call [PHONE REDACTED] to schedule a slot.
