Since the beginning of last summer, we've been collecting and your opinions and ideas on what you like about Millcreek and what you'd like to see changed. We now need your input on the best ways to implement what we've been hearing. For example, two themes have emerged from your comments about neighborhoods and housing. Millcreek residents want to preserve the current housing stock, but also report concerns that Millcreek is going to grow by the thousands in the future yet buildable land is scarce. How do we address both interests? We've got some BIG IDEAS, but we want to hear from you. Please come to a workshop this week, which we will repeat three times. The first is tomorrow morning. Join us for breakfast, see what we've been doing, and let's brainstorm. Or come later in the week on Thursday or Friday if you can't make Saturday's workshop. See the times and places below. In addition to providing information on the General Plan, we'll have educational materials available, which will explain the trade-offs and potential benefits that could result from the choices being considered. Skyline language arts teacher Jill Thackeray was surprised earlier this week by the presentation of a 2018 Granite Education Foundation Excel Outstanding Educator Award. Superintendent Martin Bates and Granite Foundation members surprised Ms. Thackeray with cameras, balloons, and a great big sign. The Granite Education Foundation explains that the award is given for an educator's "personal commitment and contribution" to the 67,000-strong Granite School District student body. Each year, the award is "bestowed upon nine teachers and one administrator who have been nominated by school administrators, colleagues or students." Congratulations to a long-time Skyline educator and very deserving member of our community! Thanks, Ms.Thackeray, for your many years of excellent teaching of our high school kids!
