This website has not been used for the several years and has outdated information. The correct city website is millcreek.us. If you have saved anything other than that to your Bookmarks bar, please delete it and update your Bookmark to millcreek.us. We have managed to remove the record of millcreek.utah.gov, but Enter HERE! ---PAGE BREAK--- some residents may still be redirected to that page depending on the browser or search engine they use, or if the website is saved in their Bookmarks bar. The official Millcreek website, millcreek.us, ONLY works on Google Chrome. This means that you may not be able to find or utilize our website on browsers or search engines such as Microsoft Edge, Bing, Safari, or Firefox. To have the best experience with our website, we encourage all residents to make Google Chrome their default browser. Read the following article for help on how to do that: Make Chrome your default browser. If you decide to keep your current browser as the default but still wish to view the city website, type "Google.com" into the search bar/ URL bar at the top of your internet browser page and search for "millcreek.us" and it should lead you to our website. De-icing salts applied to roads or sidewalks lower the freezing point of water on the pavement. The salts then melt or prevent the formation of ice. De-icing salts can improve safety, but they also contain chemicals like chloride that can damage nearby plants, soils, and infrastructure. When these chemicals are carried away by melting ice or snow to our rivers and streams, they can harm the water quality and wildlife. Just one teaspoon of salt can pollute five gallons of water. Follow these tips when de-icing to help reduce pollution: Before salting, clear away as much snow and ice as possible with a shovel or broom. Apply salt sparingly on icy patches, leaving about three inches between salt grains. Focus on areas with high foot traffic. If there is salt left on the pavement after thaws, sweep it up and apply less next time. Minimize use of sodium chloride (also known as rock salt), calcium chloride, and potassium chloride because they release high amounts of chloride when dissolved in water. Instead, consider using magnesium chloride products, which release less chloride. A popular and relatively safe do-it-yourself de-icer uses dish soap and rubbing alcohol diluted in water. Please be a good neighbor. Elderly or physically limited neighbors can't apply de-icers without risking injury. About 100 Americans die shoveling snow every year. If you can, make the time to help clear a neighbor's sidewalk. ---PAGE BREAK--- Donations! Donations! Donations! MILLCREEK. Millcreekers have opened their hearts. We now have a cubicle full of warm winter coats to be distributed by the Promise Program to their afterschool program, ESL classes, and the Granite Peaks Adult Education Center. An empty office is now full of items of all sorts for the temporary homeless shelter. We have also already delivered several loads to the shelter. The shelter operator has told us that she has never seen such a public outpouring. Thanks to everyone who took the time to bring these much needed items to city hall. We will make certain that each and every item gets to where it is most needed. Despite these generous contributions, the needs at the temporary shelter continue. With cold weather and snow here, it is even more imperative to take care of our neighbors who need a little help. Please keep your donations coming!! And thank you to our wonderful Millcreek community. ---PAGE BREAK--- Millcreek Arts Council and Millcreek Library announce December's Gettin' Visual at the Library! MILLCREEK. Please join the Millcreek Arts Council at the Millcreek Library tonight, December 2nd from 6 PM until 7 PM for a reception to enjoy the art of James Shuman and music of Koan Laros. James Shuman has been creating vibrant, colorful, original artwork for 30 years. Recently, he has been creating abstract postmodern art that brings joy to the viewer. James enjoys the process of creating art and painting with more freedom and a looser style. Next year he says he may try a new twist. Primarily self taught, James is influenced by a large variety of artists who have created over the last 100 years. James lives in the Millcreek area with his family. His art will be on display at the CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE YOUR TICKETS ---PAGE BREAK--- Millcreek Library through the month of December. You may view much of James’ work at www.jamesshuman.com. Koan began his musical journey at the Open Classroom in 2014, at just 8 years old. There, he began taking classical guitar lessons from Eric McKenna Spreng, who remained his guitar teacher until the summer of 2022. Currently, he continues to study with his new teacher, Troy Lennerd. For many years, Koan patiently practiced his guitar-playing skills and absorbed much music theory. Since then, he has been practicing classical pieces by Bach, Tarrega, and others, and has begun to compose his own music.
