Mt. Olympus Community Council Meeting Minutes February 7, 2017 7:00pm Attending: David B. (Chairman), Ken Pasu Kumar Charles Joan John Joy Lynne G. Excused: Reports: Unified Fire Authority- Rob Ayers handed out Summary of calls for 2nd half of 2016. Announced a Community Information Meeting to be held on March 14th (7:00 – 8:30pm) with regards to the Emergency Wildfire Plan. Meeting will take place at Station 106- 1911 E. 3300 South. Unified Police Dept.- Officer Prescott presented the summary of report on crime and highlighted that the ‘Hot Item’ being stolen right now are trailers. Business: John Janson from Millcreek City was in attendance to begin the discussion for the Millcreek City General Plan. The leadership of Millcreek City applied for a grant to help move this process along. A Steering Committee is being formed and Millcreek City Leadership would like a designee from all 4 Community Councils appointed to serve on this committee. The first meeting to be held on Thursday February 16th (6:00 pm) 3932 South 500 East Some of the important issues to be addressed by the Steering Committee will be ‘Conditional Use Permits’. The committee will be asked to address ‘Conditions’ that fall under the domain for Conditional Use, so they are not anticipating a lot for Millcreek City. Ordiances- there needs to be a complete overhaul of our zoning ordinances. Several will be addressed by the committee, the 2 main ordiances being (Mixed Development Zone) this ordinance can handle larger scale development better. ---PAGE BREAK--- M-Zones (also known as Manufacturing Zones)- the City is contemplating combining M1 and M2 Zones. Joan Haven commented her interest in thinking ‘Clean Manufacturing’ as Millcreek City moves forward. The other Ordinances that need to be updated dramatically also include Commercial and Residential. Mayor Silvestrini was in attendance and took some time to inform the Council on the following items: Addressed the Ordinances and Regulations mentioned above that will be a part of the General Plan moving forward. He stressed the importance of these issues being addressed at each City Council meeting so that ‘Ordinances and Zoning’ work for the viability of Millcreek City in the future. He mentioned that Planning and Economic Development will need to wait until July or later when the City starts seeing Taxpayer money. Millcreek City will be forming a Community Events committee and would like a representative to serve on this committee. The goal of this committee will be to broaden the events to include more individuals within our new city. The Mayor re-assured us that the City Council is very supportive of Community Councils and want them to continue to play a vital role in receiving and relaying information and feedback to the grass-roots level. Commented briefly that Millcreek City did receive $100,000.00 of start-up funds from the County and that additional money is still being negotiated. A Feasibility Study Group has been hired as required by law to help us determine our future status in the MSD. The City Government continues to lobby and work on Legislation that effects Millcreek City. Millcreek City Meetings occur weekly and ALL are welcome to attend. Work Meetings are scheduled from 4:00 – 6:00pm, with General Meeting immediately following from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Millcreek City Newsletter will be printed with important information and numbers such as ( code enforcement, animal control, snow removal issues, etc.). City Council-Woman Cherie Jackson announced a Safe Neighborhood Program. They will work on making everyone aware of this government program that has now added Elementary Schools as a designated Safe Neighborhood Place. Council-Woman’s contact information is [PHONE REDACTED] or [EMAIL REDACTED] By way of information: 2 new members were elected to serve on the MOCC – Bill Blatter and Richard Williamson, both representing the North area- ( replacing Jeff Silvistrini and Jemina Keller respectively.) ---PAGE BREAK--- Bill Blatter and Pasu P. were elected to serve on the newly formed City Events Committee.
