MOUNT OLYMPUS COMMUNITY COUNCIL Churchill Jr. High School March 1, 2016 - 7:00 PM Pledge of Allegiance Introduction of Council Members In Attendance: Jeff Silvestrini (Chair), Jemina Keller, Ken Smith, Joan Haven, Joy Goddard, David Baird, Kumar Shah, Chuck Pruitt, John Knoblock, Pasu Pasupathi Minutes Minutes from the February 16, 2016 meeting were approved. Minutes from the February 2, 2016 meeting were sent out on March 1. Reports: UPD: Det. Paul Peterson and Sgt. Brent Davis. Vehicle burglaries were high for Feb 2016. There was a robbery at the Subway on Wasatch in Olympus Hills. There was a Jeep rollover on 3900 So. Discussion ensued about I-215 suicide. Kumar noted that there were multiple offenses for the number of cases reported. Joy noted that on Diana Way the renters have moved out, and that the neighborhood does not want this type of renters in the future. UFA: Kumar made a motion that the MOCC write a letter from the council commending Captain Rivero’s work on human trafficking and sex slavery. Rita Lund: Flyer and email that went out today for candidate training, March 7th 6-8pm at the Salt Lake Council Chambers. Rita distributed the Code Enforcement Status Report. Six residents called in about “junk” in Mt. Olympus. Rita reported on the Medicaid expansion bill and parcel ownership on 2300 E between the State and the County. BUSINESS 1) Mia Love Letter Millcreek Canyon: The Boy Scouts approached SLCo to buy 700 acres of open space. SLCo did not have funding, but Mia Love’s organization was able to work with the USFS to get funding to purchase the open space. The Millcreek Township Council resolved to write a letter to Mia Love’s organization to inform her as to the local community council structure. 2) According to Jeff, UPD will have access NextDoor threads. 3) Kumar: Night Out Against Crime 8/2/16. Location: Evergreen Park. More details to follow. Discussion ensued regarding $2500 in earmarked funds to the MTC from OTS. ---PAGE BREAK--- 4) Joy Goddard: Mentoring Skyline, Bountiful and Cottonwood High students. Promoting a hunger banquet – proceeds go to Utah Alliance for individuals in Morocco. March 11 at Cottonwood HS; John Knoblock will post on NextDoor. 5) Mountain Accord: John Knoblock: Federal designation for the Wasatch should not be rushed through until we have more data about the boundaries and what is needed therein. Ed Marshall from Log Haven has also provided feedback along this vein. 6) David Baird: 2 kitchens would make the application on Adonis outside of code.
