Public Meetings City Council Mon., 4/22/24 Work meeting 5 pm Regular meeting 7pm City Hall, 2d Floor NEWS Lots of Roads Being Repaired in Millcreek MILLCREEK. Construction season is well underway all over the valley. Crews in Millcreek are likewise hard at work. Here are some updates on the 2000 E and 900 E projects to let you know ---PAGE BREAK--- 1330 E Chambers Ave Agenda below what is going on and what areas you should avoid if possible. In the meantime, slow down to keep yourself and our crews safe. Remember that fines are doubled in construction areas. It is also important to remember that even if you are riding a bicycle you still need to follow all posted traffic signage. Don't try to sneak through a construction site, it can be very dangerous. As you make your weekend plans, don't forget that the Salt Lake Marathon is happening on Saturday - Plan Ahead!! (more information below) 2000 East - 3300 S to Siggard Avenue A major road reconstruction along 2000 E between 3300 S and Siggard Avenue is well underway. As work began on this project, a failing storm drain was discovered under the intersection of 2000 E and 3300 S. We are fortunate that the problem was found while work was being done in the area and the construction crews were on hand to replace the pipe. It is unfortunate that this work will cause additional traffic delays along 3300 S. ---PAGE BREAK--- 3300 S Intersection Construction Notice Crews have begun work to install further irrigation pipe at the intersection of 3300 S and 2000 E. This work is anticipated to last through mid-May.* What to Expect: Construction activities 8 am to 4 pm New traffic patterns ad restrictions at the 3300 S intersection Noise, dust, and vibration Construction vehicles, crews, and equipment in the area New Traffic Pattern While work is ongoing in this area, a new traffic pattern will be in place for the safety of crews and to allow for construction activity. Drivers are encouraged to ---PAGE BREAK--- follow posted detours and use caution when near the work zone. Pedestrians on 3300 S are asked to obey posted sidewalk detours. Drivers headed eastbound on 3300 S cannot turn right or left onto 2000 E Drivers headed westbound on 3300 S cannot turn left onto 2000 E Most traffic restrictions will be removed daily by 4 pm. The southbound closure on 2000 E will remain in place. *Construction schedules are subject to change due to utility, material, weather, or equipment delays. 2000 E Update Project Overview Millcreek City is performing a roadway and irrigation improvement project on 2000 East. The project began November 2023 and will continue through summer 2024.* Project benefits include: Piping of the west-side irrigation ditch Installation of a pedestrian-friendly sidewalk New bike lanes for active transportation New pavement for road overlay ---PAGE BREAK--- During construction, residents and drivers can expect: Daytime construction work Monday through Friday Shifting traffic patterns and travel delays throughout the work zone Construction crews, vehicles, and equipment in the area Noise, dust, and vibration Equipment and Materials Staging An equipment and material staging area has been established in the cul-de-sac at Millcreek Dr. and 3375 S. Access to homes and driveways will be maintained, snow and trash removal will still take place as normal, and the staging area will be secured. Residents with questions are encouraged to contact the project team. Parking Restriction Parking on the north and south sides of 3375 S between 2000 E and Millcreek Dr is restricted between the hours of 7 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday to accommodate construction equipment moving through the ar4ea. Ongoing Construction Activities Fencing is being installed and landscape work is occurring in localized areas. New sidewalk, curb, and gutter installation is occurring. Roadway signage is being installed in select areas throughout the corridor. Tree trimming and stump removal has concluded but may resume on an as-needed basis. Garbage Collection Notice: During construction, residents along the west side of 2000 E should place garbage cans on the east side of the roadway for pickup. Upcoming Construction Activities Roadway resurfacing and asphalt restoration is expected to occur from May 13th through 24th. More details on specific impacts including brief driveway closures, intersection closures, and shifting traffic patterns will be made available as paving approaches. Irrigation gate installation is expected to conclude at the beginning of May. ---PAGE BREAK--- Questions about work near your property? A rolling operation is underway for paving that will take approximately one week to complete. The project is anticipated to be finished by late summer 2024 and will be a complete street with new pavement, bike lanes and contiguous sidewalk. To keep one lane open in each direction, paving began this week along the west side. Residents have been notified of impacts to driveways. There is no parking throughout the entire construction area. ---PAGE BREAK--- Have Questions? Many course segments are only restricted to one-way traffic. Some of these select street closures could be for up to seven hours. Today at the Utah League of Cities and Towns midyear conference, Millcreek was one of the few Utah cities designated by Get Healthy Utah as a "Healthy Utah Community". Millcreek's embrace of outdoor recreation and countless activities to encourage residents to "Venture Out" impressed judges.
