08/18/23 - SCHOOL IS IN SESSION-SLOW DOWN; THIS WEEK'S FUN EVENTS; DECLARED CANDIDATES; CONSTRUCTION UPDATE; etc. View this email in your browser Announcements PUBLIC MEETINGS City Council Special Meeting Mon., 8/20/23, 6pm Murray City Hall 10 E 4800 S, Murray, UT 84107 NEWS SCHOOL HAS STARTED--BE ALERT & SLOW DOWN MILLCREEK. School started on Wednesday, August 16th. This means students will be walking to and from school locations during the week, and drivers must use extra caution when traveling in neighborhood areas and school zones. The Utah Department of Public Safety says that "children are more at risk when approaching or leaving a school bus." When you see the yellow flashing lights come on, be prepared to stop. When the red flashing lights come on and the stop sign ---PAGE BREAK--- comes out, traffic in both directions must stop until the stop sign has been pulled back and the bus starts moving. Granite School District urges drivers to follow the directions of crossing guards and adhere to school bus cross arms. Vehicles must slow down in active school zones, and drivers must be on alert during morning and afternoon commutes. UPD will be strictly enforcing speeding in school zones or failing to stop for a bus. Failure to drive responsibly around schools puts our students at risk. Speaking of driving carefully... Now that school has started at Skyline, many students, parents, and teachers have gotten the chance to use the recently constructed roundabout as they head to school - some for the very first time. As a reminder, when approaching the roundabout, yield to any oncoming traffic. When traffic is clear, enter the roundabout by turning right and driving counterclockwise.
