Some of the members of Millcreek’s new Sustainability Committee visited Rocky Mountain Recycling Services to learn more about how these facilities operate. The group was able to tour the facility and see firsthand how this stage of recycling works and how machines and employees work to sort out recycling materials. The group had these takeaways from their visit: It’s important to learn exactly what is recyclable and what isn’t to help the machines work to the best of their abilities. Did you know shredded pieces of paper should not be added to your curbside recycling bin? Recycling is just one of the three components of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. It’s good practice to consider the other two components besides recycling. This facility processes about 25 tons of materials an hour— reducing and reusing your stuff would go a long way toward cutting down that process. In addition to sorting machines, there are also people who help to sort out unwanted materials. Their jobs are easier when people at their houses are aware of recycling best practices. ---PAGE BREAK--- Please join us in supporting youth education at Evergreen Junior High School. It also gives the community a direct connection between the Grandeur Peak Trailhead and the paved Parley's Trail into the US Forest Service trail system in Millcreek Canyon. Trails Utah has been hard at work to provide new local community recreational trails that are part of, or connect to, the BST, like the The Rattlesnake Trail, Parleys Pointe Trail, Millcreek Upper Pipeline Trail, and now the Grandeur Peak segment, all built in the last two years. We underestimated the cost to build the Grandeur BST due to some unexpected expenses, and are still in need of funding to finalize the project. The total trail cost will be $105,000 for planning, permitting, construction, and signage. We are $15,000 short and need your help. Established funding has been provided by the City of Millcreek, Athletic Brewing, Bonneville Shoreline Trail Committee, and the Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation. Construction should be complete in early September of this year, and we need to pay the contractor, Nature Trails. We ask that you help support us in the completion of this wonderful neighborhood asset Please go to to support this project and more! * For more information about the Grandeur to Pipeline Trail visit connector-grandeur/ ---PAGE BREAK--- * For more information about the Grandeur to Pipeline Trail visit connector-grandeur/ MILLCREEK IN THE NEWS MILLCREEK.
