Reports: UPD- Det. Paul Peterson reviewed the neighborhood crime statistics, noting increased activity. A car thief was caught and two thieves were caught near the bowling ally. UPD is working with the NextDoor web site so that they can post items to the site. Jemina had three related items: 1) proposal to have a project to clean up the Suicide Rock area 2) issue with ticketing the vehicle and hot tub trailer on Wasatch near Eastwood Dr parking on the sidewalk 3) ticketing a trailer parked on the street near 3100 S Kaibab for several weeks. John had a UPD related issue raised on the NextDoor web site concerning dog leash requirements on local trails such as Grandeur Peak and Neff’s Canyon. John said he discussed the issue with Capt. Steve DeBry who passed it on to the District Attorney for a legal interpretation. Rita Lund showed us a related letter from the DA to the Emigration Community Council stating no leash requirement on trails past the parking lot. On Saturday 4?30 there will be a prescription drug disposal drop off at the Millcreek Community Center as part of the National Take Back Day. Township Services- Rita had Lisa Harmile review the 2300 E road improvement project. Jemina asked about landscaping for that project, which lead to discussion of requesting UDOT to do more landscaping along the new I-215 overpass bridges. Jemina will call UDOT. UFA- Capt. Fernando Rivero reported no major calls. He said that Walgreens Drugstores now has Naloxone nasal spray to counteract heroine overdoses. We discussed preparation for a Wildland Fire Clinic at Olympus Hills or Churchill JH 10 am-1 pm on April 23. Fernando will check on availability of a PA system and generator; otherwise we will use township services PA and Jeff’s generator. Ken Smith will work with Emergency Coordinators on publicity, John will post the event on the NextDoor web site, and Jemina will send out a community email. ---PAGE BREAK--- Business: Community Cleanup Project- Kyle Taft proposed that we locate specific properties in the neighborhood that could use volunteer help in a cleanup, rather than focusing on Wasatch Blvd. We will each survey our local areas to find potential projects. Ken will ask the Emergency Coordinators to help find projects. Kyle will work with Ken Ford and involve Wayne Johnson of Parks and Rec to include a lower Fortuna Park cleanup. Rita will talk to Russ Wall to coordinate materials- 20 flags, 200 vests, garbage bags, and barricades. Jeff will call Pam Roberts about providing three dumpsters. We have $20,000 in this year’s budget to get the irrigation water supply installed for the roadside beautification project on the east side of Wasatch at 3500 S. Kyle and John will organize a meeting with SLCo to ensure this project moves forward this summer. RCOZ: David reported that the 4400 Parkview permit was going to the Land Use Hearing Officer for review and he expected approval even though we opposed it. The concern is that the County Planning staff are too willing to bend the rules for non-compliant applications. Jeff will invite Roland to come to a Community Council meeting so that we can discuss the issue. Comcast Employee Rental House on Jupiter- Rick McNemee said that Jemina’s call to code enforcement started the 30 day clock for the owner to remedy the situation of too many renters in the house and trucks on the road, and that the fine would be $50 per day afterward. MSD & Township Executive- Rick Graham will fill the new position replacing Russ Wall. He previously was the Salt Lake City Public Works Director.
