Required Inspections This list is for reference only. Please contact the building department with any specific questions. • A physical copy of the city stamped plans shall be on site for all inspections. • Projects with framing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or any combination are required to schedule a four-way inspection. • Separate inspections will not be scheduled. Drop ceiling When: All T-bar, rivets, seismic supports, posts, and lights are complete (before tile is installed). All mechanical, electrical, & plumbing above the grid must be completed before inspection. Drywall When: Drywall and nailing are complete (before mud and tape). *Only required on fire rated assemblies, walls/ceilings between dwelling units, & walls closer than 5’ to a property line * Electrical When: Wiring, boxes, panels, & supports are complete (before drywall or insulation). Final (Project Final) When: All permitted work is complete. Footing When: Forms, rebar, & grade are complete (before concrete is poured). *Footings for new homes require an elevation certificate to verify height* Foundation When: Forms, rebar, & grade are complete (before concrete is poured). Four-Way (framing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing) When: Rough framing, mechanical, electrical, & plumbing are complete (before insulation or drywall is installed). Framing When: Framing, structural details, backing, firestopping, draft stopping, truss blocking, drop ceilings, & chases are complete (before insulation). Mechanical When: Supply ducts, return air plenums, boots, duct & plenum sealing, transfer air grills, & supports are complete. *A manual J, D, & S may be required to verify size* Plumbing When: Distribution piping, drain waste vent piping, traps, manifolds, backwater valves, & supports are complete & under test (before insulation or drywall). *Shower pans do not require an inspection* Power to Panel When: Panel, wiring, bonding, & UFER ground is complete. *Load calculations are required to verify panel size* Shear Wall (Framing) When: Sheathing, nailing, blocking, straps, structural details, & anchor bolts are complete (but before insulation or weather barrier is installed). Solar Panels & Equipment (Electrical, Final) When: Panels, arrays, wiring, boxes, switches, batteries, bonding, & grounding is complete. Weather Barrier (siding, brick, stucco, lath) When: Paper, foam, staples, nails, wire, ties, tape, drip leg, flashing, & sealing are complete (before, lath, siding, brick, or stone are installed). *ES Reports & manufacturer installation instructions are required to verify installation *
