Millcreek Promise Guidelines for Volunteers, Community Partnerships & Research Scholars 1. Promise volunteer interventions, events, and projects/programs will focus specifically on clearly identified needs in the community that are not being fully met at the present time. (ALL) 2. The opportunity should be ongoing and not a one-time need. (Except day of volunteer projects, response teams, and Research Scholars) 3. Accepted interventions, events, and projects/programs will be manageable in terms of cost, time, capabilities of available personnel, and necessary volunteer skills. (ALL) 4. The regular time commitment does not exceed 4 hours/week (per volunteer). 1-3 hours per week is recommended. (MPLC & MPSC only) 5. It is recommended that project locations in IGP (Intergenerational Poverty) neighborhoods are close to a school, park, community center, or multi-family complex, and are easily accessible by public transit. (MPSC only) 6. Partners should be familiar with the Granite School District academic calendar and anticipate a decrease in service intensity/volunteer availability during school break periods. (ALL) 7. The Program will provide volunteers an opportunity to carry out purposeful tasks related to city policy, resident advocacy, hosting training, connecting service providers, volunteer service, fulfilling data requests, fundraising, grant exploration, etc. to engage in meaningful programmatic work. (ALL) 8. Programs should be designed to foster empowerment, being grant funded or self-funded and sustainable if possible, rather than dependent on outside resources. (Except long-term grant funded programs) 9. Programs must address liability concerns and ensure the safety of all participants. (ALL) 10. Programs must provide annual organizational and community quantitative or qualitative measurable outcomes. 11. Programs that involve political or religious involvement will be evaluated by the Legislative Services Director as to their compliance with applicable laws. (ALL) ---PAGE BREAK--- 12. Each Community Partner (CP) must provide a dedicated staff member to serve as the primary contact for data requests, serve on the MPLC, and to provide staff support to a relevant MPSC of choice (Health, Safety, Economic Well Being, Education). It is recommended that this is a 2-year position for the Community Partner. 13. Should an existing leadership or subcommittee intervention request or require significant programmatic changes (adding/removing key duties, adding/changing volunteers, focuses or locations, etc.), this must be communicated to the Promise Program Manager prior to any changes. The addition of positions, locations, etc. may require a new Community Partner Application if the additions are substantially different from the pre-existing agreement. 14.
