1 Job Announcement Public Market Sales Associate Closes: Open until filled Status: Part-time/Seasonal (Up to 29 hours a week) Non-Exempt, Non-Benefitted Hiring Range: $16.00—$19.00 an hour Under the direction of the Community Life Business Development Manager, the Public Market Sales Associate assists customers with purchasing merchandise at the Public Market at Millcreek Common. This position is responsible for maintaining the market space and being knowledgeable about the products sold. Additional duties include providing support for Public Market activities and display turnover, prioritizing customer service, and supporting the local businesses participating in the Public Market. POSITION(S) SUPERVISED: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Greet and interact with customers; assist customers with purchase decisions. 2. Maintain running knowledge of the products being sold at the Public Market. 3. Process payments and refunds using POS software. 4. Advise supervisor of low inventory items. 5. Organize and maintain displays. 6. Maintain general cleanliness of the Public Market, the backstock area, and other common areas. 7. Responsible for market security, visitor safety, and reporting issues and/or concerns to the supervisor. 8. Assists in the set-up and take down of markets; provides support for various events taking place in the market space (set-up, breakdown, etc.). 9. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Education and Experience: • Graduation from high school or GED. • One to two (1-2) years‘ experience in customer service or retail environment. ---PAGE BREAK--- 2 2. Special Qualifications: • Valid Utah Class D Driver’s License with clean driving record required. 3. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. • Ability to communicate effectively and in a friendly manner. • Ability to demonstrate a high energy and enthusiastic attitude. • Strong organizational, attention to detail, and recordkeeping skills. • Ability to make and maintain good working relationships with co-workers; team oriented attitude. • Ability to follow instructions well and adapt to various situations • Ability to operate equipment such as cash registers, scanners, etc. • Basic math and computer skills. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Environment: Work is performed on-site at the Public Market located inside Millcreek City Hall. The market is composed of rotating, themed, pop-up retail markets. 2. Physical: Incumbent must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. Primary functions require the ability to walk and stand for prolonged period of time; to regularly stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. 3. Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction. 4. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. 5. Attendance: Due to the nature of this position, incumbent must be able to work flexible hours including day/ afternoon/evening shifts, weekdays, weekends, and some holidays.
