Annex Agenda Below Click here for our Calendar of Events NEWS BIG KICKOFF IN MILLCREEK ON WEDNESDAY FOR "UTAHNS FOR CALIFORNIA FIRE RELIEF" MILLCREEK. Almost 10,000 homes have been destroyed in Northern California by what has been coined as "the Camp Fire." The town of Paradise, comprised of 27,000 residents, has been flattened. Fewer than 500 miles from us as the crow flies, tens of thousands of people have ---PAGE BREAK--- 3/27/2019 Changing Lanes band coming to Wasatch Blvd. on Wednesday to help ring in local California fire relief fundraising 2/8 lost all of their belongings and are now homeless, temporarily staying in emergency shelters, with friends, and even camping in parking lots. Several Millcreek residents touched by this nearby catastrophe have concluded that raising funds through events like a bake sale or a car wash is too modest a response. In an effort to raise serious funds to help our California neighbors, they have organized what they are currently calling "Utahns for California Fire Relief." The City will be sponsoring the kickoff event this coming Wednesday, November 21st, the day before Thanksgiving, and the fundraising will continue throughout the holiday season. From 2-5 PM on Wednesday, a drive-in "Dump Your Piggybank" will be set up on the "UDOT" property on Wasatch Boulevard across from Barbacoa in the Olympus Hills Shopping Mall. Look for the Unified Fire truck with large flags of both Utah and California hanging from the ladder. You and your kids are welcome to come explore the fire truck. There will be coffee and hot chocolate available, and we are counting on several food trucks arriving that early. Starting at 5 PM, along with the food trucks, there will be a dance party with the live band, Changing Lanes, playing until 8 PM. Check them out in the video below this band was in America’s Got Talent in 2015, ending as TOP 15. Planning for this party is ongoing. Stop by and see what's been cooked up. The goal, of course, is to raise funds for the victims of this year's California mega fires. We look forward to seeing you there. ---PAGE BREAK--- 3/27/2019 Changing Lanes band coming to Wasatch Blvd. on Wednesday to help ring in local California fire relief fundraising 3/8 Changing Lanes band, featured on America's Got Talent CITY HALL ENTRANCE TEMPORARILY RELOCATING STARTING MONDAY MILLCREEK. If you drive on the I-215 access heading west to I-80 with any frequency, you've probably noticed the large dip in the right lane just after you go under the Foothill Drive overpass. The dip has been getting bigger and deeper since July or so. If your car is small, you may have been changing lanes in fear of bottoming out. According to UDOT and Salt Lake City's Department of Public Utilities, a 48- inch water line main that passes under the road has been leaking for many months. UDOT recently reported the dip to which investigated and found the leak. You may have seen their crews working on the repair over the past week or so. This Sunday, November 18th, from 8 AM to 3 PM, UDOT will close the westbound lanes of I-215 at the Foothill Drive ramp while the repair work continues. To get to I-80 westbound, you'll have to use the Foothill Drive ramp, and then take Parleys Way down to 13th East. Holly Mullen, communications and engagement manager for reports that the water main has been shut off, and customers are receiving water through a contingency distribution system. She assures that, "Our system is designed for such resiliency and customers can rely on the water being safe and plentiful." ---PAGE BREAK--- 3/27/2019 Changing Lanes band coming to Wasatch Blvd. on Wednesday to help ring in local California fire relief fundraising 6/8 Repair of the water main will continue throughout the winter.
