7/28/22 Minutes Millcreek Business Council Executive Committee Meeting Thursday July 28, 2022 @ 9 am Action Items: • Nate Gibby: o Send Josie and Kayla your GOEO grant application so they can take a look at it. o Send Moira the link of how to sign up to be in the Millcreek Miracle registry o Send the Millcreek Miracle credentialling document to the Exec Committee. • Michael Gura: o Work with Moira and Rachel Nasse on figuring out the expenses of the Spring 2022 5k. • Moira Gray (Staff): o Connect Michael Gura to Rachel Nasse. o Send out Millcreek Miracle link in e-newsletter. Millcreek Miracle – Nate Gibby a. Goal: Launch at the October 5th Business Gala b. The first ad and postcard have been printed and passed out. c. Three main parts: Shop Local, Credentialing, Volunteerism d. Paletti is being featured in the next ad. e. Nate is applying for a grant through GOEO, which is due Aug 4th. i. Josie and Kayla will take a look at his application. f. We can start having businesses sign up now, before it is launched. i. Moira can put the link in the next e-newsletter. g. Nate will send the credentialling document to the Exec Committee. 4. Businesses of the Month a. Headcovers by Joni b. Gurkhas Indian and Nepali Cuisine c. Savant Studio 5. Upcoming Events a. August 9th – 11:30 am – 1 pm – Meet n’ Eat @ La Frontera b. August 16th – Millcreek Elementary Ribbon Cutting i. Millcreek Elementary will be doing a ribbon cutting for what was built on Canyon Rim Cares day. ii. Perhaps Kayla should say a few words about the Millcreek Miracle. c. August 25th – Baldwin Radio Arts Fest d. September 10th – Jordan River Paddling Trip e. September 13th – 11:30 am – 1 pm – Meet n’ Eat @ Café Zupas f. September 15th – 10 am – 1 pm – Millcreek Job Fair i. We should ask Pizza NoNo about food for the job fair. ii. The Millcreek Miracle should be at the job fair, tabling and talking to employers. g. October 5th – Business Awards Luncheon i. The Promotions Committee can become the planning committee for the gala. ii. Dorie Olds wants a list of the past awards and future ideas. ---PAGE BREAK--- h. October 27th – Trunk or Treat – Millcreek Elementary i. The Promise Program is having a Trunk or Treat in October for Millcreek Elementary. The students will be dressing as their dream job. They would like for businesses to get involved. 6. Committee Reports a. Michael Gura – Health and Wellness Committee i. Ben and Amy from Epic Fitness have been bussing in kids twice a week for free fitness training. ii. Adriana from Eden Wellness is hosting free yoga classes on the Millcreek Common until September 26th. iii. The Health and Wellness Committee is starting to plan the Spring 2023 5k. 1. Michael needs to be connected to Rachel Nasse, Millcreek’s events planner. 2. Figuring out expenses is the first priority. 3. Businesses should have booths/sponsorships to offset costs. 4. Michael has sponsorship packages ready to go once costs are figured out. b. Carol Elliott – Highland Drive Business Alliance i. The Highland Drive Business Alliance has been working on feedback of the new Highland Drive lane system. ii. Working with the Salt Lake half of the Alliance is difficult. iii. The Alliance is concerned about the visual aesthetics of the new parking going in around the area. c. Loren Evans – Outdoor Rec and Service Committee i. The next event is the Jordan River clean up in September. ii. Loren wants to have a holiday service project. 1. The Committee should connect with Kayla and the Promise Program. 2. Canyon Rim Cares does a holiday service project that they could coordinate on. ---PAGE BREAK--- 3. Perhaps free skating passes could be given if people donated to the food bank. 4. Nate suggests connecting with Stratus HR as a partner. d. Nate Gibby – Business Promotion Committee i. The Millcreek Miracle is coming along! e. Dorie Olds – Networking Committee i. The Networking Committee is hard at work making sure that we have locations and people for our Meet n’ Eats. f. Workforce Committee i. The Job Fair is coming up, and we want as many businesses as possible represented. 7. Other Business a. Moira is going to be updating the Millcreek Business Council portion of our website, so she may be reaching out about photos, agendas, etc. 8. Adjourn
