MOUNT OLYMPUS COMMUNITY COUNCIL Churchill Jr. High School July 19, 2016 - 7:00 PM Pledge of Allegiance Introduction of Council Members In Attendance: Jeff Silvestrini (Chair), Joan Haven, David Baird, Kumar Shah (minutes), Chuck Pruitt, Jemina Keller, and V. Pasu Pasupathi Excused: Joy Goddard, Ken Smith, John Knoblock Pledge of Allegiance Introduction of Members Minutes: We reviewed and approved 6/21 and 7/5 Minutes. Reports: Rita Lund provided schedule and map for asphalt application in the neighborhood. She also talked about Salt Lake County Council meeting earlier today over parking near the Grandeur Peak, neighbors with opposite views clashed during the meeting. Per Salt Lake Tribune (9/21/16) last summer, the county began a yearlong pilot program that blocks visitors from parking along Warr Road, Cascade Circle and part of Cascade Way. Residents were issued parking permits and could obtain extra ones for their guest, but as the pilot program comes to an end, community members are split over how to proceed. The county Council did not vote on the issue at this meeting. It plans to continue the public hearing and vote on the issue at its August 9th meeting ns year (4:00 Business: Rezone request for 22 acres in Meadowbrook RDA: Jeff Silvestrini reported that he attended a meeting of the planning commission on the above subject where 7-9 acres potential biodiesel industrial and property situated at main- street per property owner’s request were removed from rezoning. Mount Olympus Trailhead Improvements: Salt Lake County Planning representatives (Thomas Zumbado and Angelo Calacino) reported that project is on schedule and John Knoblock’s concerns have been addressed see below: The cars parked will be facing to Wasatch Blvd so that they would be more visible and thus reduce car break-ins. The Monument will have the USFS logo on it- the USFS will be should reviewing the design. Stairs will be avoided. Angelo has Matt Lane and Bekee ---PAGE BREAK--- Hotze in the loop and has a spot in mind for the USFS trailhead signage, including a good map and all the normal recommendations and special warnings. Rest room will be provided. Construction will probably start during winter. Monza Water Line project update-Salt Lake City Water representatives -Kristeen Schumacher and Kasey Chestnut reported that contractors are on board, access to canyons will be open during construction although at times there will be one lane traffic on 3300 South. Affected residents will be informed in advance. The 2016 Millcreek Night Out Against Crime is taking place on Tuesday, August2, at Millcreek Recreation Center & Evergreen Park 2266E Evergreen Ave (3435 S) East Mill- creek and we decided to cancel the regular meeting on that day. The next MOCC meeting will take place on August 16. Meeting adjourned at 8:30pm
