A great success this season, sales of skate passes and more than 29,000 skate rentals reached a new high of $377,868. The 2023-24 season was the second one for the skate loop. The rink hosted 27 ice shows this winter, ranging from skating club showcases to New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, and other special shows, with free admission for spectators. Millcreek’s own ice-skating troupe, the Skate Loop Ice Troupe, was formed this season. The troupe's talented skaters' skills were displayed at 15 shows/exhibitions, each free to the public. Millcreek Common Community Life staff worked with school groups on field trips, often offering discounted skate passes. Kids (and adults) learned how to skate or play ice hockey. The Loop was used by businesses for company events, and great fun was had by all. We cannot even begin to estimate how many residents and visitors spent time watching performances and enjoying what the Common has to offer. Our City Center is doing very well, meeting the expectations of residents who asked overwhelmingly for a place that included a skate rink where they could mingle and visit with friends and family. To add to the Millcreek Common fun, the climbing wall on the northeast corner of City Hall will be opening on Saturday, March 23rd with a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting at 10am. There will be free climbs all day and free top rope belay classics. Meet pro-climbers, connect with climbing clubs, and enjoy giveaways, games, and food. Break in the lead-wall at 5:30pm. Come climb City Hall!! We have heard many many compliments from residents about Millcreek Common and all the fun things happening. We are so happy to be able to provide this fun amenity to residents. So come on down and ice skate (until the 16th) and make your summer plans to include roller skating, climbing city hall, and getting wet at Millcreek Common!
