1 Job Announcement Adventure Hub Facilities & Operations Junior Manager Opens: Wednesday, April 6, 2022 Closes: Open until filled Status: Part-Time (between 15-24 hours per week) Non-Exempt, Non-Benefitted Hiring Range: $22.00—$25.00 per hour Under the direction of the Adventure Hub Facilities & Operations Senior Manager, the Adventure Hub Facilities & Operations Junior Manager manages retail recreation services and provides facility-related supporting services to the Millcreek Common public plaza operations including ice skating, roller skating, splash pad, sport climbing, and other forms of active and passive entertainment. Incumbent oversees process, task, and personnel management in all aspects of the day-to-day operations, including special event programming, facility support, groundskeeping services, and immediate facility needs at Millcreek Common and provides operational oversight, staffing support, internal customer relations leadership, and service contractor performance management. Meet performance standards established with the employee’s supervisor. 2. Manage Adventure Hub operations for retail/rental of skates and other recreation equipment. 3. Manage and enforce polices for access to and conduct while using the Plaza facilities. 4. Manage passive entertainment and services of the Plaza WiFi access, ambient music, outdoor furniture, table games, etc.) 5. Provide oversight of day-to-day and select special programming of entertainment and exhibition on the Plaza. 6. Co-manage relationships and communications with the general public. 7. Respond to/resolve the great majority of escalated customer and operational issues. 8. Manage and support the Adventure Hub operations team. Lead scheduling, rostering, training, and on-boarding of Adventure Hub staff and volunteers. 9. Ensure adequate performance of day-to-day contractor-provided services. Assist with Millcreek Common venue tours for client partnerships and planning purposes. 11. Oversee the performance of providers who contract for event services. 12. Manage the facility’s supporting inventory of tools, equipment, vehicles, and consumable items, possibly supported by use of asset management digital platforms. 13. Ensure facility-supporting services to standard levels of service response. 14. Ensure satisfactory performance of regularly scheduled and emergent-response service contractors and tradesmen. 15. Act as Common Safety Officer, enforcing employee safety practices and fulfilling lawful health and safety inspections. 16. Ensure day-to-day maintenance and groundskeeping activities and reporting. 17. Respond to and resolve or escalate facility-related issues. 18. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Education and Experience: a. Minimum two-year post high school degree from an accredited university, college, professional or trade school. b. At least five years’ experience operating retail, commercial, or public recreation activities or services, private and/or public events, or venue management. c. At least two of the last 5 years’ experience managing or supervising the staff of venues, retail stores, conventions, or event services (i.e. catering, guest services, etc.). 2. Preferred Special Qualifications: a. OSHA 10-Hour Safety Training for General Industry (successful candidate can fulfill or renew as part of the onboarding process). b. OSHA 30-Hour Compliance Training (successful candidate can fulfill or renew as part of the onboarding process). c. General Industry First Aid and CPR Training. d. Any experience in: Fork Driving, Mechanical, Refrigeration, Pool Operation, Plumbing, Carpentry, Landscape Maintenance, etc. 3. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: a. Knowledge of principles for providing high-level customer service. b. Ability to use tact and diplomacy under stressful situations associated with public or stakeholder interaction. c. Ability to make decisions and use good judgement. d. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, contractors, volunteers, city elected officials, city department heads and related agency contacts, and the public. e. Ability to operate a personal computer and standard competency using Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.). f. Competency in communicating clearly and concisely with City personnel both orally and in writing. g. Ability to reliably manage established processes and policies, and shape their improvement, as necessary. ---PAGE BREAK--- 3 h. Ability to manage and extract optimal performance from the operations team, using sound principles of team leadership and collaboration. Demonstrate an ability to share workload with collaborators. i. Ability and willingness to train and to transfer knowledge to colleagues, subordinates, volunteers, and contractors for successful delivery and group satisfaction. j. Ability to lead and operate self-sufficiently, without the support or supervision of supervisors or City leaders outside City business hours. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Environment: Work is performed in a mixed facility environment of standard office and outdoors on-venue at Millcreek Common Plaza. Incumbent should be able to lift 50 lbs. and handle or move more weight with assistance of appropriate equipment. The nature of community recreation and events venue facility management requires incumbent to occasionally work outside of traditional business work-week hours and days. These requirements will be scheduled with advanced notice. 2. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in transitional settings between sitting at a workstation, kneeling-to-standing while at maintenance tasks, to move from indoors to outdoors, and in other tasks to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to occasionally operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to operate material handling equipment; to operate electrical and gas-powered tools; operate utility vehicles including but not limited to forklift, general utility hauling vehicles, Zamboni (ice re-surfacing vehicle); and to verbally communicate to exchange information. 3. Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction 4. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. 5. Attendance: The Adventure Hub is the employee’s headquarters and primary location for work. Due to the nature of this position, incumbent must be available to work afternoon/evening shifts, weekdays, weekends, and some holidays.
