5/24/2024 - STAY SAFE ALONG ROADWAYS; MILLCREEK COMMON EVENTS; PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE; etc. View this email in your browser 900 East drone flight during paving — April 18, 2024 ANNOUNCEMENTS Millcreek city offices will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday 5/27 Public Meetings City Council Mon., 5/12/24 Work meeting 5:30pm NEWS Orange Cone Season is Well Underway — Stay Safe MILLCREEK. As you drive through Millcreek (or almost every other city in the county), you are bound to encounter the orange cones of road construction. A couple of large projects underway in Millcreek are moving along nicely. The complete rebuild of 900 East from 3900 South to 4500 South, funded mainly through a state surface transportation grant, is scheduled to be completed by the end of August. This project will result in a reconstructed roadway, ---PAGE BREAK--- Regular meeting 7pm City Hall, 2nd Floor 1330 E Chambers Ave Agenda below upgraded sidewalks and pedestrian ramps to meet current ADA standards, new curb and gutters, and wider shoulders. A new bike lane will be striped along both sides of 900 East Another complete rebuild is taking place on 2000 East between 3300 South and Siggard Avenue. Thanks to state corridor transportation and storm water funds, this section of 2000 East has new sidewalks, curb and gutter and pavement. The ditch has been covered and bike lanes will be painted on both sides. The project is anticipated to be complete near the end of June. Final mill before the overlay for 2000 E from Siggard to 3300 S, sidewalk — May 16, 2024 Other small projects are in the works, including work that will begin soon on 3100 East between Upland Drive and 3900 South. This project will resolve recurring flooding issues in the area and will be funded through the city storm water budget (see the CONSTRUCTION NOTICE for the 3100 E project below). We appreciate the patience of residents and visitors as they navigate construction zones. Slowing down and paying close attention to signage is extremely important for the safety of both drivers and construction workers. Some projects, particularly 2000 East, are near enough to completion that they appear to be finished. Pedestrians and cyclists are welcome to use these areas however it is important to realize that all of the work has not been completed. There will be sections that may have trip hazards or small potholes ---PAGE BREAK--- that have not been finalized. Please enjoy these new roadways but remember to be careful around construction zones whether you are driving, walking, or cycling. CONSTRUCTION NOTICE 3100 East Storm Drain Replacement Project Millcreek is installing a new storm drain along 3100 East, with work to begin as early as May 28th. Crews will begin work in the public right-of-way starting at 3900 South and proceeding north on 3100 East to Upland Drive. Drivers in the area should anticipate intermittent full lane closures and changing traffic configurations. Please stay vigilant and expect travel delays in the project area. Nearby residents and businesses can expect roadway excavation and intermittent travel delays when entering and exiting their properties. Driveway and sidewalk access will be intermittently inaccessible. Owners will be notified of closures in advance by the project team. Construction is anticipated to be completed by August 9th, weather permitting. During construction use caution while traveling through the work zone and follow all traffic control devices. At the conclusion of the citizen comment time, the Chair may direct staff to assist the citizen on the issue presented; direct the citizen to the proper administrative department(s); or take no action. This policy also applies to all public hearings. Citizens may also submit written requests (outlining their issue) for an item to be considered at a future council meeting.
